Work permit cancellation, what now?

Featured Replies

Hi i was reading trough the forum but i am still not sure what to do , so i opened up an own thread.
I have a non immigrant B visa with multiple entries and working since 6 month in thailand, due to troubles with my company they told me that they will cancel my workpermit. They asked me aswell to return the blue booklet, but as i paid for everything and smelled trouble i kept it.
My questions are now:
From where i really know if the workpermit is cancelled or not?
Do i have to leave the country and pay overstay or can i just keep continuing using my workpermit to reenter the country until i find i new job?

do they have the right to ask me for this blue booklet?

the current stamp allows me to stay 1 more month and i would like to use the time to get clearance about my things.
thanks for any help

What a mess.... first the work permit blue book is not yours.....it belongs to the Ministry of Employment, you have to turn it in... The organization you started out with yes, certainly they can ask for it, but you don't have to give it to them... Did they help you process your paperwork?

With the help of a Thai speaking pal, go down to the Work permit offce, it is hit or miss.. look the part of a professional and smile.. you just might get some help...

Best of luck.

Don't just take off.. you will pay a fine for not closing out properly if you decide to come back and work in LOS.

thank u for your fast reply, can i return it every city or only there where it was issued? its truly a mess, and everything because personal issues and not professional ones...

A multiple non-B (on which you leave the country every 90 days) does not become invalid upon losing your job. So no fear for overstay.

The WP does need to be cancelled, but you can keep the book nowadays. You can check with the labour office if they did this, if not you can fill out the form yourself and cancel it.

thank you very much , that helps me sort out this mess ! so when i cross the border, do i have to show the booklet then or can i just use the visa? another issue is that my passport is almost full, so i had to apply for a new one which will be ready in a couple of weeks, is that non b visa transferable? or where can i go and ask for that? because in the embassy they told me that they dont know it.

Leaving and re-entry you will not need the Work Permit.

A visa cannot be transferred. If you get a new passport, you simply use both new and old passports. You just show the valid visa in the old passport and you will be stamped in and out in the new passport.

i hope that works it sounds really easy, but a visa in an invalid passport? i am sorry but one more question: where i can find the form to cancel the permit, and can i do it on the postal way or do i have to go there in person ? and where i have to do it, labor office, the issuing one or any other one? and if i find a new employer do i have to apply for another non b or just get another workpermit from the new employer?

A valid visa remains valid even though the passport is no longer valid. People use 2 passports all the time because they have a valid visa in the old one.

You have do it in person at the office where your work permit was issued.

A one year multiple entry non-b visa from an embassy or consulate is not tied to one employer.
