Like others on here, I think it is good to give the police less of an excuse to resort to corruption. However the cynic in me wonders if the rise is more to do with keeping the police on side and happy to crack heads in the event of civil unrest than anything else - I don't think the present leadership is basking in the unconfined joy of the public as some posters would have us believe...

    A very good decision NLA. Very overdue and very necessary. Not that it will change much in the attitude of our dearest police force, but it's a step forward to provide better means of living to them
