She will have to wait till the son is on a 1 year extension of stay and then she can apply for a new non-O visa abroad, they will not allow a conversion for this reason at immirgaiton..

Only one parent can get an extension based upon being the parent of a child attending school.

It requires 500k baht in a Thai bank for 30 days on the date of application.

thanks a lot guys but we can't open a bank account with a tourist visa what should we do ?

thanks a lot and are you sure about 500000 because they said at the school 800000

thanks guys

The rules say 500,000 baht in the bank.

You can open up a bank account on a tourist visa. Some banks are simply not very helpful, in which case you just try another bank (including another branch of the same bank) till you succeed.

It often helps if you have a Thai national to vouch for you.

You can open a bank account with a tourist visa. You just have to try different banks and branches of the same bank to do it.

From clause 2.11 of police order 327/2557.

"(5) In the case of parents, funds must be deposited in a bank in Thailand, under the father's or the mother's name, of no less than Baht 500,000 for the past three months. For the first year only, the applicant must have proof of a deposit account in which said amount of funds has been maintained for no less than 30 days prior to the filing date"
