March 26, 201511 yr Hello, I am new to the forum. I am moving to Bangkok to start a new job, with my wife. I am from Nepal, and my wife is a US citizen. We were married in Washington DC, and have a marriage certificate from DC Supreme Court in the US. So, applying for a Non O spousal visa for my wife, they are asking for a relationship certificate from the Nepalese embassy. Since our marriage is not registered in Nepal, the Nepalese embassy cannot verify our relationship. However, the US embassy can - since the document is from the US. Has anyone been in this situation, or have any advice? I would really appreciate it.
March 26, 201511 yr She can also obtain an affidavit that sates that the marriage is valid, at the local US embassy. Edited March 26, 201511 yr by paz
March 26, 201511 yr Author Thanks for your reply. We will apply for a visa at the Thai embassy in Kathmandu, Nepal. Your suggestion to get a affidavit from the US embassy in Kathmandu also sounds possible. I just want to be absolutely sure because I will be traveling for the next 6 weeks.
March 26, 201511 yr I think that if you want to be "absolutely sure" you should have your wife inquire at the US embassy in Kathmandu! I doubt that anybody here has been in exactly the same situation but some will give you advice as if they had just done the same thing yesterday! Anything to increase the number of posts as there might be a hidden prize!
