any info on what you can and cannot take on board !

bkk - uk ONLY ,MANY THANKS GUYS :o

Hi Ged,

I travelled from bangkok to manchester with etihad on the 12th august. I played it safe and took no hand luggage at all, but when i got there things seemed as normal, evrybody else had hand luggage, if i was you i would refrain from taking liquids and gels and the usual restricted items in your hand luggage and pack them in your main luggage.

But as far as i know the restrictions are only from the uk end.

Greg Hi

I know it's not what you asked, but I came back to Thailand via Heathrow on 18th Aug, flying with EVA, no problem leaving UK, just no liquids or jels in hand luggage, everything else as normal, just long cues. I brought back the new XBOX and some games, for my son (in hand luggage) no problem.

But, I think security more worried about UK to USA and vise versa. Bkk to England, I'm sure will be no problem.

I flew from Bangkok to Manchester, via Dubai, on Emirates on 29th August. I called Emirates beforehand and they advised 1 piece of carry-on, no liquids or cosmetics. I took on my laptop and another bag and had a bottle of water and had no problems at either airports when going through security.

I think Manchester may be a little stricter on the return journey but at worst I think they will just not allow liquids or cosmetics.

From 16th September: Normal size hand luggage allowed to U.K. Electronics O.K. and toothpaste allowed if declared in a plastic bag for easy inspection.

So I think nearly back to normal for BKK-U.K.
