Is a foreigner married to a Thai citizen permitted to obtain residency in Thailand?

Permanent residency can be applied for if on extensions of stay for 3 years and working with a work permit for those 3 years.

Simple answer ............NO !

But you can obtain extensions of stay based on marriage or retirement for as long as is wished providing the financial requirements can be met.

If not working you cannot apply for permanent residency.
