March 27, 201511 yr So just came back from a solo visa run in Cambodia and probably been shafted ?? ... Met some guy at the border and paid.. 1500 baht for Cambodian visa plus 300 baht "commission" Paid another 1000 baht for Cambodian entry/exit stamp Paid 150 baht tip for the guy who sent the passport for stamps Paid 1000 diesel for Pattaya to Aranyphet.. So, all in all 4000 baht for a 2 week extension not to mention the hour plus queue in the Thai re-entry.... .. last time i went (3-4 years ago) i probably paid 2500 all in with VIP visa from Queen vic ...? So wondering are the prices i paid normal ?
March 27, 201511 yr Yes you have been scammed big time. Cambodia visa is $30 (Bt 1,200) plus whatever they manage to extort, nothing if one does not give in. There are many threads about that and infinite discussions.
March 27, 201511 yr visa runs from Pattaya 2,800 baht now, due to increase in Cambodian visa, 6 seater. last year it was 1,400 at Ban Packard no walking required. maybe this year 1,700/1,800 baht. get yourself to the border crossing. Edited March 27, 201511 yr by steve187
March 27, 201511 yr Author the guy said the 500 baht x 2 for the entry/exit stamps was a new thing for people staying less than 3 days ?... Edited March 27, 201511 yr by William Osborne
March 27, 201511 yr the guy said the 500 baht x 2 for the entry/exit stamps was a new thing for people staying less than 3 days ?... That is what they say all the time, but there is no such rule. Normally they try Bt 300, but would take 100 or anything. Edited March 27, 201511 yr by paz
March 27, 201511 yr Author oh.... completely shafted then !!....555... was expecting to be ripped off by maybe 500 baht but the 1000 baht charge for the border stamps was the cream in the cake,,, (for them)
March 27, 201511 yr So prices are creeping up to 2800 now from Pats. Two years ago it was still 2400 or less.
March 27, 201511 yr It is always interesting to read these posts that indicate how much money some people are willing to be scammed out of. Personally, I do not even hand over an extra 100 baht at the official visa-on-arrival counter. The idea of handing over 2,950 baht to strangers for a US$30 visa (over three times the official price verifiable in 30 seconds on the Internet) just would not occur to me, especially as this did not even include VIP service on the Thai side. I guess some people just want a quiet life, and will hand over their money to whoever asks for it rather than suffering the slight aggravation of pushing past these people to get to the official visa desk.
