I agree with you possum regarding Gene Clark - a superb voice and songwriter, imo.

But for bands, for me the singer from Middlesborough beats them all.

Who was the lead singer Trans?

Kieth Relf, died at the age of 33..........sad.png

Never heard of him Trans. I believe Jimmy Page played with The Yardbirds, but I have to say they were not my type of band,

I agree, hes certainly better than the Trousersnake from Redcar, not know as The Voice for nothing, best lead singer, I probably agree with you.

However, the best frontman, entertainer and showman of all time was Freddy, and I aint even a Queen fan, that man could work a crowd.

From my own point of view, anyone who saw Bob "Psycho" Calvert on the 76 and 77 tour will know what a great frontman he was, made songs up on the spot, ad libbed and changed the lyrics to suit the venue and the times, his like will never be seen again.

No offence intented mate, but how old are you?

Were you living in the USSR and were denied access to all these bands, or is it just you lived in a vacuum.

I like this guy, but he was never a lead singer as in fronting a band.

What a voice, no messing about, straight to the point.

A lead singer wearing a wifebeater on stage???? not a bad voice though.

I thought you would have put up Jim Kerr from 'Simple Minds', Being honest though, although I know a lot about them,

I have never heard any of their records.

I have been a Country Music fan since my teenage years, and although I know some pop music, I missed a lot of it.

Outside of country music, I was always a fan of Elvis and Roy Orbison.

One of the best lead singers, the late Robin Gibb of the Bee Gees.

What a superb voice and what a song, a bit of the Roy Orbison there.

Chris Farlowe - been with a few bands such as Thunder Birds & Atomic Rooster.

Along with Tom Jones and Scott Walker there are not too many others with voices to match but they are not band members so are excluded.

rgs, i'm not so sure possum failed Rock 101 regarding Keith Relf, after all to play possum means to feign ignorance!..

Here's another fine voice from the north-east. Must be that cold wind that blows in from the North Sea
