Adopted to Australians in 1975 the height of the stolen babie generation

Featured Replies

  • Hello my name is Anand White..I believe i am adopted from Prajak chouylai I was born 15/09/1975. My adopted parents were actually English immigrants to Australia , and i grew up in Whyalla South Australia.I see a lot of the babies were sent to Sweden. I had a birth certificate but believe it to be fake, my former name was Anand Assura . My actual baby photo was used on the tv show 4 corners in the uk about the baby buying scandal which was kept a secret from me until i did a small interview doco on sbs tv about me trying to find my biological parents.I have only just come to realize how much has been kept away from me. As my adopted parent would always shy away from anything that didn't seem right and ignore a lot of unanswered questions. I was born in Ubol Rhatatthani at the end of the Vietnam war.All my life i have really known nothing about myself..I would also like to get my Thai passport and Thai card, but i have no idea on where to start. maybe the pictures on my sbs doco could help .. If there is anyone that could help me it would be much appreciated. my adopted mother has just passed away, our relationship was a bit cold my whole life as i never felt affectionate towards her or could connect with her.I have two English born sisters who were a lot older than me We all grow up telling ourselves that adoption was for the better and there was a good reason for our new life, but after finding out about Prajak Choulai and his gang, its given theory that we were actually robbed of our identity and had our families torn away from us by force. i know one of the nurses that handled me as a child moved to America. I'm 39 turning 40 and would love to know if anyone has been helped or if there is a group of Thai born that would like to unite to form group stating what we are and how its effected us all. please watch my sbs tv doco.

I'm going to move this to the Thai forum, though in all honesty I'm not sure if anyone will be able to help, it's not really a visa issue.

Uou can regain your Thai nationality, but would need to establish your identity at birth and that of your parents so it can be established if you are really Thai.

I would start with checking the birth certificate as right now you are not sure.

There was one other member with the same adoption problem a few years ago. You might want to use the search funtion to try and locate the thread.

Have you been in touch with the folks at the Australian Institute of Family Studies? They may be able to advise you on how to gather further information. Do you have the Thai script version of your original surname? If so, that combined with the knowledge that you were from Ubon Ratchathani (do you know the amphoe?) ought to be enough, with some research, to locate family members. Anyway, good luck.

I have also been involved with and been successful in retrieving Thai nationality.

Sent PM to OP!

The OP originally came on in good faith and asked for assistance to retrieve his nationality.

As long as I have any original adoption papers I can trace someones Thai nationality and I have retrieved nationality for a couple of people.

I PM'd the OP offering to assist but I now see it was an April Fools Joke! The OP was last active on 2015-04-01 21:31

Noony is obviously a loony!

I stand by my offer to assist people to retrieve their nationality.

Aren't april fool pranks are supposed to be funny?

This is not funny! Finding someones lost parents and retrieving their nationality is a difficult and serious issue. Takes time and effort and I have to personally sit through days of questioning and validation in Thai and then make legal statements in Thai to various government agencies. Normally it takes a full 6 months and multiple trips to show that I am not trying to do anything underhanded.

Of course being united with a lost parent and getting an Thai ID card issued for the first time, is very rewarding for me and the applicant on every level.

If Noony is a loony and if the post was made in "jest" it was also made in very bad taste .

I am in complete agreement with Badbanker.

This is a serious issue for many.

This is not an Aprils fools day joke , what do i have to gain from this being a joke. My adopted mother died two days after New Years this year(The women next to my father in the youtube clip) her name was Janet White from Barnsley Yorkshire North England same as my dad Peter White, who immigrated in the1960's with my two sisters Mandy and Debbie, before adopting me in 1975...I have tried finding out about this Lawyer who adopted me out...but finding out anything has been hard. Losing my adopted mum has got my mind thinking about how to tackle this with my Father and the rest of my family as they are all hush and lips sewn shut about the whole subject. The reason i have not been on here to reply was due to forgetting my login details and not having time.

My original adoption papers have been lost , but i do have my original Thai passport from when i was 3 month old.. My Australian passport says i was born in Ubol Rhattatani. But i am unsure about if this is enough to get me Thai citizenship.

I must ask why this was looked at as a joke when i have pasted a link from youtube showing my abc experience and myself . I think it would be in far more bad taste to think im playing an Aprils fools joke, when all my experiences are real..and proof on my you tube paste?

I think part of the problem is that you did not make any further posts and also the date being close to April first

Having your Thai passport should help finding your family and birth records. The correct transliteration of the province where were born is Ubon Ratchaithani.

It should be a matter of searching for your family name in the interior ministries computer records to at least get pointed in the direction of the district where you were born.and then try to find your birth records.

I believe the issue was you posted here on April Fool eve asking for response and signed out on April Fools day never to return; and a member sent you a PM offering expert help but you probably never received the PM and apparently never read this thread until now. A week later he concluded it was not real from your lack of response.

Youtube video is not exactly a guarantee of something being real.

Your original Thai passport should eventually be enough. Full Thai names tend to be unique (or, at least, closer to unique than Western names). There is enough information in the passport (including date of birth) to locate information about your Thai family, some of whom will likely still live in the same district of Ubon province.

After researching the detail at post #5 I too was a little miffed that the effort wasnt acknowledged & came to the same conclusion as everyone else.

The Thai passport will be enough to regain your Thai nationality. It might be issued with false details, as sometimes happened. So it might not lead back to your birth parents. As you said, your BC might be fake.
