Panitarn: positive response expected from martial law lifting

BANGKOK: -- Thailand says it hopes to receive positive response from international communities after it lifted martial law Wednesday night.

Panitarn Watanayakorn, advisor to deputy prime minister in charge of national security affairs Gen Prawit Wongsuwan, told INN News that Thailand hoped to receive good response from the international communities after restrictions under martial law have been removed after the lifting.

He hoped to see international pressure to ease as well as improved domestic situation after the lifting.

He insisted that the Section 44 of the interim constitution which was invoked instead was intended merely for security sake.

More regulation could be added to suit the situation if necessary, he said.

Ha, ha. Dream on.

"The Thai junta's decision to lift martial law was denounced by critics Thursday as cosmetic, with key ally Washington warning that replacement emergency security measures would do little to loosen the military's grip on power.

Do the Thais really believe, that the international community is a bunch of suckers, who will buy anything spewed out by the Ministry of Propaganda??

Generations of pom-pom dances to the tune of 'Thailand Number One' only happened inside Thailand's borders.

It would seem the pooyai haven't considered the implications of the outside world not having been through their educ indoctrination system.

Of course the international community will simply accept what they are told and never bother to scrutinize Art 44 and understand the Absolute Control bit.

Once again LoS outwits the rest of the world, wherever that is.

In a word - YES!

Yes.

Used car salesmen would blush saying things like this. Doubt they are fooling anyone, but many will go along, so they can resume selling travel insurance as well as other financial instruments.

And from New Zealand:

The New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade has reviewed its travel advice for Thailand following the lifting of martial law.
On 1 April 2015, martial law was lifted across most of Thailand. It has been replaced by other special measures which continue to allow the military expanded powers to enforce order.
There are no changes to our risk levels.

I sense another 'poll' coming up.

These charades (much like the PDRC protests) may fool some in Thailand and this latest stunt too. But the rest of the world aren't as outright gullible.

The lunatics run the asylum, they really do.

Don't underestimate General Prayut.

Where before TAT was promoting tourism under martial law, he will personally develop numerous promotions to humanize Article 44:

- Tourism under absolute rule

- Catch 44 Contests

- 44 Values

- 44 Shades of Camoflage

- 44 Ways to Happiness Songs

- 44 absolute LINE stickers

Indeed Thailand will become the Hub of Absolutes.

positive response expected from martial law lifting

...from the big brother in China?

You are living in a dream world. If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck - its a duck.

Thailand hoped to receive good response from the international communities after restrictions under martial law have been removed after the lifting.

Unfortunately the International communities are a little harder to fool than the local population.

If anything the response has been and is likely to be even more vocal, scathing and blunt about article 44 than martial law.

They might be able to fool all the Thai people all of the time but not the international community.

Heres hoping the sanctions are increased and more international pressure brought to bare on a return to free elections ASAP

I am not sure of how these things work, but could this simply be a cynical attempt to get around travel insurance restrictions on countries which are under Martial Law? Is the world that easily fooled...
