In the Nation today it says the motivation for the extra 8 was to free up more numbers. So far so good but it went on to say that by adding an 8 to all mobile numers it would increase the quantity of available from 90,000,000 to 300,000,000 . By my math the best that can be gained is to double the available number from 90,000,000 to 180,000,000. Am I missing something here?

maybe it's to make all the current numbers 10 digit, and they will throw in maybe 7 and 9 to replace the 8 in future
