I don't often look at my alternate e mail account so get a long list of TV notifications. I can't remember when there has been such a depressing collection of titles of death and destruction as today. Yes, there are always some, but today it's appalling.

Is Thailand really getting worse. Just the inevitable Songkrn death toll is bad enough, but to take the present crop of farangs killing each other and trying to throw babies to their death, that seems new.

What's your impression- is it getting worse or better?

How could we possibly know, since there are no reliable statistics available here in Thailand?

MAYBE it is getting worse and that is why we see more such stories.

MAYBE it is NOT getting worse and we see a higher percentage of such stories because of a higher percentage of population / foreign tourists

MAYBE it is NOT getting worse, but the newpapers must fill their pages with such stories, because in the last year, they lackes stories about the political demonstrations, hicup and squabbling of the politicians...

How would we know.. for me personally, the situation got neither worse or better, since in all my years, I have never been victim of or even close to any crime.

When i first came here there was a magazine full of pictures of people who had been murdered ,killed in car crashes ,all in full colour ,the Thai love this sort of thing ,but now they pixilate the gory bits . its the same all over the world ,yes the world seeems to be getting worse ,there are more of us living on top of each other ,if you think its bad now wait till there are 10 billion ,15 billion on the planet ,things are going to eventually get out of control ,but as stated who in the hell wants to read about us with our kids watching tv and driving to Tesco ,its only interesting if i kill the wife on the way and then get shot by the police after throwing another farang off a balcony.

This newspaper is like the TV, news section.

All deaths, murders, rapes and UFO's appearing over the UK.

The only difference is that News of the world put a picture of a naked chick sometimes, but TV as they care about our morals, do not do that.

So nothing new here and also think that in a population of 60million people and another 3million foreigners what is happening and what TV reports is a needle in the haystack.

It's abysmal. I wrote 2 books about it so far, one in 2014 - one this year, but no one cares in the age of supreme, myopic entitlement - unless it happens to a loved one, no one give a sh-- in general about the veritable plethora of foreigner fatality factors in the LOS.

Except a few people like us.

Such is the state of the world.

I makes one a bit apathetic too, after years of it..
