More than 200,000 people who were born in Thailand without citizenship will now be included in the stateless healthcare scheme. The cabinet approved the request made by the Ministry of Public Health on Thursday after public health officials presented the proposal during a meeting on economic affairs

.

The stateless healthcare system was first launched in 2010 and included 400,000 people. The scheme provides medical care to those with citizenship problems and who are pursing nationality verification. Once Thai citizenship is granted, these individuals transfer to the Universal Coverage scheme.

Approximately 900 billion baht is set aside for the stateless healthcare scheme each year. The inclusion of an additional 208,000 members will cost an extra 400 million baht annually.

The resolution will be presented during the next weekly full cabinet meeting for official confirmation.

The Public Health Ministry had also requested that 70,000 students be included in the scheme, but the cabinet stated that the identities of the students would need to be verified. Some may be migrant children that cross the borders to attend Thai schools and would be ineligible for the scheme.

During the meeting, the National Health Security Fund was approved for a 165 billion baht budget for 2016, which included 163 billion baht for healthcare services and 1.9 billion baht for administration of the National Health Security Office.

I suppose nobody thought of includig farang who cannot get citizenship but still here PERMANENTLYcoffee1.gif

Well that didn't take long did it, typical white man sense of self entitlement

the difference being is said farangs are here by choice and should be paying for their own medical insurance, they can afford it

And besides farangs can get PR and citizenship if they qualify, not Thailand's problem if you can't meet the criteria and don't qualify

Nonsense post. They are here by choice, not by birth.

how about all the expats that call Thailand home and support the country.

how about them being able to be included in a health plan. have an annual fee?

they can give Myanamar, Cambodians and Laos immigrants who Thailand needs to do manual labor as Thais. are too lazy to do an honest days work, a health plan who do not support Thailand financlaily and send all there money back home!

How about the expats living here paying for their own medical insurance they can afford to get on a plane and shack up with some Thai slapper in Nakon Nowhere but will not take responsibility for their own medical insurance and have their hands out wanting something for nothing

And with an attitude like yours " Thai are too lazy" why do you want to live here then or is the pull of cheap women who are not that fussy just to strong ?
