Lite Beer
Most Thais satisfied with "Peace" under Prayut govtBANGKOK, 19 April 2015 (NNT) - Most Thai people are satisfied with the government’s success in keeping the country peaceful with no political turmoil. The government’s anti-corruption policy also rates well, according to the result of a Suan Dusit Poll revealed on Sunday.Respondents noted changes in several areas after six-months under Gen Prayut. Most respondents, or 87.98% are satisfied with the state of peace and absence of political rallies, followed by 80.53% who were happy with the serious action being taken against corruption and 73.09% who are satisfied with social regulations. There were also several areas where respondents were dissatisfied. 88.74% of them were disappointed with the failure to control the higher cost of living and product prices; 84.16% were dissatisfied with the government's use of power to restrict public opinion; and 79.69% were unhappy with an excessive use of laws and regulations. However, 57.35% of the respondents said they are more satisfied than disappointed with the government’s work; 28.78% are both satisfied and disappointed in some respects; and 13.87% are more disappointed than satisfied as the government is not an elected one, resulting in less international confidence. The poll was conducted among 1,572 people nationwide during 17th-19th April after the announcement of the results of the government's first six months performance on 17th April. They just won't be happy until there is blood on the streets again. Or the gullible farangs who seem to be the only people who buy into these polls. They are a source of much amusement amongst Thais - but you knew that, right? Snig, I don't buy into any poll, I am old enough to know how they work. Don't bother twisting my words or assuming my way of thinking, it won't work. Forgetting about the poll you only have to read the comments on this forum for a short time to realize there are a number of posters, mainly foreigners, who want the Army back in their barracks and a member of the Shin family running a government. Even the village idiot knows what will happen then, the rorting and corruption will ramp up, the lies will start again, the charges laid against PTP crims will be dropped, and the Red Army will be back out on the streets with free rein to gun down anyone who dares to oppose the Shin regime, with full protection from the law. I don't care what else happens in Thailand, not interested in what anyone thinks about the Junta, but I have a family in Thailand including an 18 month old son and my families' safety sits on top of my wish list. I know many Thai people, have made lots of friends in the last 10 years. Have never once heard any one of them mention polls. You seem to be the one obsessed with them.

How long have you been in Thailand ? Or followed the politics ? You do know what "ongoing dialogue" means, don't you ? That is how the bloody coup started in the first place, because of a breakdown in the ongoing dialogue. We already had the calm before the storm. You must have missed it. It was just before Yingluck finished her rule. Edited April 19, 2015 by mikemac
Popular Post NongKhaiKid
Ordinary Thais may not have much of an interest in polls but those running the country do. Popular Post chainarong
For starters most Farangs take with a pinch of salt anything that comes out of Thailand, it keeps most of us amused, the sole reason why General Prayuth - O is in power is because you are not mature enough to handle Democracy, so you are under a dictatorship, something you do understand , like it or not, beside a hit at the Generals trolls on the site , polls are taken for what they are BS, not one politician would worth their salt would believe the crap that polls send out and for all the generals men, polls do come out in other countries as well , they are not confined to Thailand , but it is most gratifying that everyone loves the Good EX General, how could it be otherwise.

It didn't take long for someone with links to the army to start the excessively named ' Thai Researchers for Community Happiness ' whose poll results are farcical and we know what the PM thinks of polls, only positive ones acceptable. 'only positive ones acceptable' Isn't there a couple of negative results for the government in this one? I'm afraid that you won't get A + B + C if you don't have some of the necessary (but unpopular) things such as D + E in operation. Marshal law and then article 44. have been key in maintaining peace and stability and not rushing into an election, because they were clearly not free and fair under the previous electoral system but instead reforming the laws and rules of the elections seems to be a much better and sensible thing to do. All of you 'election obsessives must learn to be patient and not rock the boat. As for article 44 - please tell me in what way, any way, Prayut has abused this article and used it against the people. I can give you plenty of means as to how it has benefited the people, just say, if you want me to elaborate further on this to prove the point!!!

Popular Post Suffinator
You couldn't make this crap up ... oh wait yes you can the Thai gov does it on a daily basis. So the Anti-Corruption policy also ranks well ... maybe they ought to be told that you can't tackle corruption when their is zero transparency. Said it before, say it again ... Prayut needs to step up to the plate and lay his financial affairs open to public scrutiny. He can only do this if he has nothing to hide and if he has nothing to hide there there can be no plausible reason why he wouldn't do it. If I wanted to end corruption here that's the first measure I would take so that the people knew I wasn't and could be corrupted. Come on Thailand ... find the one person who isn't corrupt and then install that person into power. Then and only then can Thailand be turned around and become a truly great nation without the need to ever resort to endless coups by people to attest they do it for their country and then refuse any type of transparency.
