Hi ... I've completed the first visa of a double entry (together with extension) and now want to do a visa run to activate the 2nd visa, and I seem to remember a while ago, a Thai Visa poster mentioned something about how they were only admitting air entry on double entry visa's that is I did a land entry I'd be knocked back.

Should mention I have been in Chiangmai for about 8 months worth of 6 day tourist visa's and extensions.

So land entry okay ... thinking of heading to the nearest borer crossing from Chiangmai on a quick day run ... never done it before .. usually flew out to Laos or Cambodia then flew back, so just checking I'm not going to have problems.

Oh ... any suggestions on which border crossing is the easiest and quickest?

cheers all,

6 day tourist entries... presumably you made a typo = 60 days.

If you have a valid visa (you haven't reached the "use by" date printed on the visa sticker) you can do a land border crossing to activate the second entry and then later go to an immigrations office to get a 30 day extension of that entry as you near the end of the 60 day permission to stay.

If, after this 90 day stay, you plan to get another visa from an embassy or consulate, probably best not to apply for 3 or more back to back visas at the same place.

You can make the entry to use the 2nd entry of your visa by land, sea or air it does not matter how you do it.

Probably what you read was somebody calling a visa exempt entry a tourist visa. Lots of confusion from doing that.
