I recently came back to Thailand after being gone for 3 years. I left behind my wife and 11 month old daughter. I had to go back to the states to take care of some serious business which involved me regaining my freedom to travel.
I had no idea that I would have to be gone so long.
So I'm coming back to be with my daughter and make music again and I'm told at Bangkok airport I can't enter because I'm on a bad list.
I had paid off the police and was exonerated from the charge but apparently I wasted thb 60k.
I am currently in Malaysia trying to find a way to go back so I can get my daughter's American citizenship and passport. I can start the process here at Kuala Lumpur US embassy but my daughter still has to go to Bangkok to be seen by the embassy. My wife, although we were never married, is now in jail in Phuket as of 2 days ago for an undetermined time.
How can I get into Thailand legally so I can take care of my daughter , get her paperwork in order and help my one time wife in her crisis.

I am a very successful musician and have performed worldwide. I preformed in three resorts in Phuket in as many years and have a great bunch of expats and Thai players just waiting. It will happen God willing.

I don't understand why you are unable to get into Thailand if you have no warrants. Did you find out if the issues is with Thailand or the USA?

Seems you had issues in the USA and Thailand are you sure both of these issues have been taken care of 100%?

If you don't know then I would get in contact with Thai immigration and find out who has you on a list, USA or Thailand. If the USA contact whoever in the USA has you on a restricted travel list. If Thailand then you need to speak to Thai immigration and find out why you are on the black list and what you need to do to get removed from the black list.

If you had drug charges in Thailand that could be the issue, even if all fines have been paid they can still put you on a black list preventing entry into Thailand for X amount of years. If you cant get any information from Thai Immigration on how to get removed from the list then it seems you have two choices.

1) Try to enter Thailand at a boarder crossing

2) Do as Mario has suggested and get a lawyer to an appeal.

If I were you I would go to Penang and then travel via train into Thailand, have 10,000B or equivalent in hand ready to show immigration along with a plane ticket out of Thailand prior to your 30 days to stay if entering on visa exempt or in line with any other visa you may be entering on. At the same be prepared to have a a lawyer ready that if or when refused entry into Thailand he is ready to appeal to the minster.

I would be very careful taking a train into Thailand from Malaysia such as Padang Besar. If he gets demied entry into Thailand the Thai's will inform the Malaysian immigration and if they find out that drugs are involved in either Thailand or the US he might just get a 3 days stamps to fly out of Malaysia and possible a flight back to the US and Malaysia doesn't send potential drug convicts to another ASEAN country.

I would go for a lawyer and have a lot of cash on hand.

you had to go back to the states to regain your freedom to travel ? are you on a black list in the states ? did you get a clearance certificate from the police re the old charge it seems to me the police haven't cleared you at all they've put you on the black list I think you are between a rock and a hard place you need to get a very good lawyer to deal with the problem .

If this is a genuine post seeking assistance then in my opinion you would be best advised to employ a Thai lawyer who may be able to make sense of your seemingly complex personal circumstance.

forget a thai lawyer

contact Tilleke and Gibbins in Bangkok http://tilleke.com/

, it will cost ya but ur daughter is worth whatever you have an than some!!!

Thanks Eric. It's the drug conviction in Thailand that is the problem. If the military were not running things I understand immigration in phuket would be able to make arrangements since I have a daughter there. I took care of the charge 2010. No warrants, it just shows that I was charged with 2 grams of pot. The immediate appeal may work. You have 48 hours to contact either the minister of interior or immigration once you've been refused entry. Anyone suggest a good lawyer?

I hope you have developed some "Self Discipline" since you had a problem with it before. Good luck !!

I take care of myself and leave the "self discipline" issue to the person it concerns.

I don't know the OP, nor the details of his situation. I wish him well, and will leave it at that.

Yes I am the legal father, on birth certificate and all.

Being "on the birth" certificate does not in Thailand make you the legal father.

Which court granted you parental rights in relation to the child?

No, just answered an old warrant. Cleared it and the world is mine except for Thailand where my heart is. Thanks

If you had a conviction in the US Thailand can bar you.
