Hi there,

just new to this forum. Me (my philipina) and I (german) want to marry in December in famos Ban rak registry office. Still I have some questions where I cant find an answer to:

1. Do they speak a few words english in this registry office?

2. I read that Ban rak deos not insist for an overlegalisation of the affirmation of freedom from the ministry of foreign affairs. Is this only for the german affirmation of freedom, or do they in general not insist for the legalistion from the ministry of foreign affairs?

3. I need 3 original of the marriage papers (marriage contract/marriage registry) Where do I get them?? (direct at the registry office in Ban Rak??)

apreciate your help

regards Markus

1. With the amount of foreigners getting hitched there, I doubt that there will be an English language problem. It was when I got married there the first time in (I think) 1984 but not now.

2. I would hazard that getting everything legalized at the MFA would be prudent. Thailand's bureaucracy's are notoriously fickle and even in the same Amphur, different staff may ask for different things for the same procedure.

3. You will get two original marriage certificates and two original (stamped copies) of the 'kor ror song' marriage registration document that accompanies them (one for each partner). I think a third copy of each may be possible at extra cost.
