Chairman of Government Lottery Office resigns

BANGKOK: -- Chairman of the Government Lottery Office Somchai Sajjapong has resigned after nine months in the office.

He reportedly said he decided to resign as he failed to control the price of the lottery as the government ordered.

Somchai has submitted his resignation letter to Permanent Secretary of Finance Ministry Rangsan Siworasat and has informed Deputy Prime Minister Pridiyathorn Devakula, Finance Minister Sommai Pasee and Deputy Minister of Finance Wisudhi Srisuphan of his decision.

Figure the odds. (Ha, ha...."figure the odds"....it's a lottery.....)

I'm here all week ladies and gentlemen, don't forget to tip your bartenders and cocktail servers.

What a bad citizen, unable to follow orders, take him to the attitude and adjustment center immediately.

He failed.....it was the right thing to do and submit his resignation.

If my employees had failed me, I would have kicked them out.

No excuses, either you do the job you are paid for, or you are out.

Never heard of a Thai official resigning over shame. I suspect

there is a lot more to this story...... The lottery must be a river

of money, probably hard not to take a dip into it.

And the answer to problem is simple register all street level ticket sellers and issue them a certain amount of tickets on a commission bases. all unsold tickets get turned in and they only pay for what they sold. If they fail to pay then two things happen they can never sell again and do jail time for thief. Government covers all tickets to pay winners it would take a few months before it would be working correctly But vendors would get commission of say 5 baht a ticket government gets 75 baht to cover wins and admin costs. No middleman thus win win all around.

Goverment scheme, and totaly corrupt. Every village in Thailand, also has another illeagal lottery. So what do you do?

Wonder where he stashed the loot?

wife and extended family said enough already.

Ach, Somchai, don't worry so much, you still have control over your bladder? Don't you?

...it speaks volumes....

..wonder if it will be enough to not hold him accountable for anything.....

...or was it a 'mutually agreed upon' scenario.....

Most likely he has realized that there is no money to be made there more than what

he's doing as the custom director... smart move indeed....

really? and this effects me and you how?

really? and this effects me and you how?

Amusement factor ?? As near as I can tell from reading

the news here for many years, I assume every political

position ( spot at the feeding trough ) is bought. Therefore

for someone to walk away means things have gone terribly

wrong. Does it affect me ? Hmmmm not really.

Don't worry you won't have to bite in that apple. After reading some of your posts nobody would work for you anyway.whistling.gif

He was ordered to voluntarily step down.

Still, investigations are pending.

you know theres something wrong when a 100 baht ticket costs 110 baht..and the top prize never changes..where has all that money gone..i know dont tell me...new submarines.

I hope every other useless Manager in Thailand follows his example.......But wait ! There won't be anyone left to run anything. Still; the vast majority would not be missed methinks.

How many times THEY told him??...I am gonna make you an offer you cant refuse...

Given how widespread 7/11, familymart etc have become why cant tickets be purchased there?
