30 day visa and extension - or 60 day tourist visa for usa

hi guys, sorry if this is redundant as i couldn't find the specific answer i was looking for.

i am going to be coming to bkk around mid june.

I was wanting to stay approximately 60 days.

I was wondering the easiest/best way to go about this.

I thought, i heard nowadays that it was easy to just fly in and get the 30 day stay for free, and then extend it while still in the ctry for 30 more days?

is this correct? or should i just go ahead and get a 60 day tourist visa?

Also, if the first is correct. How do I explain my exit ticket, 60 days out, if I haven't done the extension yet. Because I assume u always need to show your exit strategy.

You need a Tourist Visa.

Without one you take the risk of not being allowed onto the flight.
