Transport Ministry approves to increase fuel surcharge

The Ministry of Transport Pongsak Raktapongpaisal has a resolution to increase the fuel surcharge for air transport delivery and the fares for domestic flights.

Following the meeting with the committee from the Civil Aviation Centre, Transport Minister Pongsak Raktapongpaisal said that the committee agreed to raise the fuel surcharge for air transport delivery. The price ceiling is raised from 22 baht per kilogram to 29 baht per kilogram. Agricultural products will be exempted by paying only 50 percent from the determined prices. The new regulation is now effective from today.

Besides, the meeting also approved to raise the domestic transport fares in Thailand. The lowest price is set at 764 baht. He said that this adjustment will attract airlines to add in more flights.

The new rate will be announced right after the Transport Ministry has approved it.
