Extending a visa exempt entry twice

Featured Replies

Is it possible to arrive with a visa exempt entry, extend by 30 days and then extend that by a further 60 days due to having a Thai child ?

(I know the paperwork etc requirements for the 60 day extension).

Theoretically, it is possible if you are not married to the child's mother but not all immigration offices may want to do it. A ticket back home at the end of the 60 days should increase your chances. Check with the local immigration office regarding requirements.

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place

Maestro,

I am coming back on one of my many visits (I work 4/1 in Malaysia) and as I usually have only one week in Thailand the 30 day visa exempt entry has been fine.

Wife is having our baby soon so I wanted to come home and stay for approx 6 weeks - how do I go about getting the 30 day extension ?.

If I can do at Suvarnabhumi it would be great - save a border run to Poipet and the possible problems I could face (6 x visa exempt entries this year already)

Any help greatly appreciated,

Cheers,

BB

All difficulties could be solved by obtaining a tourist visa prior to arrival in Thailand !

To get the 30 day or 60 day extension you have to go to an immigration office. In Bangkok you would apply at the Chaeng Wattana immigration office.

If you are married to a Thai you can get the 60 day extension to visit her. She would have to go with you when you apply.
