I've noticed the Junta supporters read the Thai press and the opposition seems to have read the secret history of Siam.

I'll throw my support to the educated contingent.

You keep harping on about the secret history of Siam, the truth, the real story etc etc.

Either enlighten us or admit you are full of it and have nothing.

good idea. general public should be safe from foreign propaganda channels. a group of people, who control US and the Western world came to an idea that propaganda can solve any political problem, can topple governments which are out of there control.

But all these can be neutralized by simple switch. this is a "sucker Punch" for Western left-liberal fundamentalists, because they can play only in what they good at - propaganda. Without brainwashing they are nothing.

That's why they hate any leader of independent nation who is brave enough to cut off tentacles of the american propaganda octopus.

I can't post the book titles or name the authors here since the junta could shut down this forum.

hilarious! Enlighten yourself - it is not the job of others to fill you in on the background of this debate - get yourself up to speed BEFORE you post. ...

Statements like the one quotes just show how little some people are aware of the situation and what is required to understand it......do you seriously think that one post on ThaiVisa will "enlighten" someone on the situation here?

It requires SERIOUS background reading...if you ever bother to do that then you might bring something to the discussion that is of value.....if you think by posting derogatory comments about specific characters and facile demanding of soundbites will help then you really have no idea of what is going on and are totally ill-equipped to take part in the debate.

Don't play that game. If you want to know, look it up for yourself. Mentioning anything about it would be illegal in Thailand and obviously violating TVF rules. How nice of a law to have on your side when trying to win an argument in Thailand.

I wouldn't grant broadcasting rights to any group which included persons who had previously stood on stage inciting the crowd to burn whole cities and even nations to the ground.

I believe in total freedom to broadcast for all groups, including minority groups (I'm not saying this group is minority) and even for fairly obscure quirky fringe groups.

However, any group that talks about burning cities to the ground etc., should not expect the same future broadcasting rights as normal peaceful groups. Part of moving on into a peaceful and inclusive future is about remembering the deranged and violent outbursts made by certain group spokespersons in the past.

I think it is fairer to say 'A faction within a group calling for cities to be burned to the ground...', but I suppose that is a little too inconvenient for some of the partisans on here...

Would that be the faction which is also called "we, the UDD leaders" ?

Part of that truth would show that the side with a "Peace TV" isn't really different from those they oppose. Sometimes even same type of elite involved.

No danger of the army or police raiding a TV station in the US - we have our freedom of speech. There are media who hate Obama, and others who praise him, yet both can co-exist

Hence I'm confused why some TVF posters applaud this action here. Perhaps they have gone native (Bangkok style) and forgotten their civics training.

Hmmmm........and what happens to your freedom of speech if you broadcast hate speech, blatant lies, and misrepresentation of events? If you make spurious claims exacerbating class division and incite civil unrest and violence, how long would you last?

typical red shirt thinking, we can do as we please and no one can stop us. How long before they start killing and blowing things up again because they dont get their way, ptp just gave them a carte blanche to do as they please and they still think it applies. They should dismantle the broadcasting equipment and hit them with massive fines and jail time, the law is there to be followed not toyed with

Typical junta thinking, nobody can do or say anything, anywhere at any time without their permission. You can champion and cheerlead all the censorship and oppression that you want to seajae, but you'll never win because social media (Facebook and Line etc.) can never be shutdown - the voice of freedom and peace can never again be denied to the masses by the likes of you and your beloved junta. Technology has destroyed the elite hegemony over this nation.clap2.gifcheesy.gif

Those who talk about WHO is being blocked have missed the point.

The idea behind free speech is that it applies to ALL - that especially includes people you don't agree with.....or don't like.

So why did they hang Lord Haw Haw?

There are none so blind as those who choose not to see! All of the information is freely available on the web; take a minute and enlighten yourself.

(I suspect that you already know exactly jamesjohnsonthird is talking about and are actually quite deviously trying to lead him into trouble).

Thailand has zero freedom of speech unless you're an anti-democratic junta sycophant - these toads can spout of as much as they / you want.

Get your facts straight ! I have always said the best thing that has happened since the coup is the redshirts have been stopped killing innocent people, including children, on the streets. Have also said I would be happy if the Military returned to their barracks and an elected government was put in power.

If that makes me a supporter of that "group" then you have a strange way of twisting things to suit your agenda.

Concerning your book titles and authors, don't bother posting them anyway, james, if it is anything like some of the fodder I have read defending the Shins and attacking the Amart it is best published under fiction, or red propaganda.

And it is a bit late to be concerned about the junta shutting down the forum. Have a look at some of the blatant anti-junta material you and your ilk have posted since the rule was introduced banning it.

How many children or innocents where killed in political violence in the period between Yingluck's landslide 2011 election win and Suthep's feral mob taking over the streets of Bangkok?

ZERO!

So how about you get you facts straight mate.

The blame for all of the deaths and economic losses starting in November 2013 lay solely with those who broke countless laws and treasonously overthrew the elected government.

The army really is terrified and losing the plot it seems.

Not really. It just shows the stupidity and ignorance of "Peace TV" who have already been shut down at least once.

Thay are so arrogant that they STILL don't believe that the law applies to them also.

What law? The current mob threw out the constitution and just made up their own laws.

Far from "stupidity and ignorance", Peace TV represents the "courage and integrity" of many Thais in the face of oppression and censorship.

"Courage and integrity" aren't words normally associated with Thaksin and his mercenary propagandists. I suppose it depends on how much red Kool-aid you've been drinking - I'd cut back if I was you.

Yes, it's unfair to blame those glorious democracy fighters who lobbed grenades and shot randomly into crowds. They deserve numerous medals nailed to their chests, preferably with a nail gun..

Answer the question! (or continue to avoid it as we all know the correct answer anyway)

Interesting to see "Peace TV" and "courage and integrity" in one sentence. Pity "Jatuporn" wasn't included, but that might have stressed the imagination of even those sympathetic to the 'cause' of the de-facto leader

It takes both courage and integrity to stand up to armed authoritarians with the legal system in their pocket. Respect is due to these brave souls.

My "mercenary propagandists" are those UDD members who regularly appear on Peace TV who seem to have become reasonably wealthy while dismally failing to represent those they claim to. Or don't you remember the amnesty vote?

BTW while you think I'm on the wrong side of history, I'd much rather be there than siding with scum who think acts of violence are acceptable as political expression. who are you trying to be Gringo, Pancho Villa?

I have read most of the banned books and I also read the Thai press.

Let me tell you. The Thai press is in with the Military/Elite and they desperatly work together to block the real story.

The people posting here supporting the military obviously have not read the banned material.

Too bad. So interesting.

They still think the military took control to clean up politics. Silly.

He really does epitomize the UDD ethos.

Having respected TVF rules and reported an esteemed member that disrespected me he sent me a personal mail attacking me. In other words he has not respect for the rules or the authority of this wonderful forum we all enjoy.

I suspect we will not see him on this forum for too long.

Take care my friend and I appreciate your peaceful and non confrontational approach. It highlights why I support anyone that does not support the UDD.
