BangkokTony
My wife (ex?) and I attended the court at Chatuchak on Tuesday and will now await the announcement of our divorce in writing in 10 days time. I would now like to apply for a retirement visa; I have the required 800,000 in the bank for the appropriate months. I have read previous posts and I believe the Non O visa is the most convenient route. I don't want to pay any overstay (my current marriage visa allows me to stay til November) What are my options? Do I have to leave the country and if so which would you suggest?
nzexpat
What do you have in the passport now? Do you really have a "visa" or an "extension of stay" based on marriage.? Where do you hope to obtain a "retirement visa" ? There is no such best but with the correct paperwork an "extension of stay" based on retirement may be possible. ubonjoe
You can change to an extension based upon retirement on the day your divorce is final. You will need the the divorce decree that you will get from the Amphoe to cancel your current extension so you can apply for a new one.
