Can someone assist me with these question I have as I have not gotten a clear answer from anyone?

1. Is there somewhere I can get a safe deposit box where my valuables will be safe and guaranteed from any hazards and has 24/7 security?

2. If there is such a place, can you give me the contact information?

3. Also, do you know if I can give anyone I want access to this safe deposit box?

Search the forum...

There is a private place in Bangkok that offers the service as reported in one of the many threads on this topic.

Or...deposit 3-5 million Baht in K-Bank, Thai Pannich, etc. and get a box that way.

I thought I posted to the Chiang Mai forum, why would I want a service offered in Bangkok? Also, there has got to be another way to get a box without having to deposit 3-5 million baht. That just sounds ridiculous! I just want to pay a monthly, quarterly, or yearly fee.

Because there is no such service in C.M. so try in Bangkok.

You can't get what you want. You can pay a one time fee of 10,000 Baht and buy a life insurance policy from Bangkok Bank, then pay 1200 a year for a small box. Otherwise do what the banks want; i.e. deposit 3-5 million Baht for 1-2 years.

Ok, if there is no such service, as you say, elektrified, in Chiang Mai. Then I hope someone else can prove you wrong. As an advanced member of this forum, electrified, you should not be posting quotes like "You can't get what you want". Those are words expressing to the forum members that you don't respect their opinion.

I got a box 15 years ago with SCB here in Chiang Mai (without problems) and pay 600 Baht every year for it.

But; as I understand, it is a lot more difficult now. You have to deposit "some" millions on a fixed account and/or pay deposit for the box and/or make a Life Insurance with the Bank etc. Sounds very difficult.

That's also why I keep my P.O. Box, even though they increased the yearly fee from 250 Baht to 500 Baht.

When you get it; don't give it up!.

Finally, someone who gave me positive advice. Which SCB in Chiang Mai has safety deposit boxes or do you know if most SCBs in Chiang Mai have them? Can you give me the contact information like address, phone number, and even better an email address of the branch where your box is at? Does this office have fluent English speaking customer service reps, so i can ask them some questions? You can personal message me if you would like to keep your branch location's and info confidential to just me. Looking forward to a response.

Anybody else have anymore positive advice about this topic or anywhere else they know of that have safety deposit boxes as a service in Chiang Mai?

Thank you Beetlejuice; but that thread is mostly about "just give up" and you can't get one.

I have mine at the SCB Branch on Hang Dong road. From Airport Plaza it's about 1 km, on the left side, 500 m before Lotus.

The last time I was there (1/2 year ago), they just put up a new column of safety boxes.

The staff speaks reasonably English.

I believe elektrified was correct when he said the OP can't get what he wants. The banks provide safe deposit boxes, but do not guarantee the contents will be safe from hazards. They do not have security personnel standing watch 24/7. Their costs are quite high as has been pointed out.

I still rent a large box in the US for $40 per year at a local bank, no deposit required, just a checking account to pay the annual fee. You can't do that here.

I'm not sure who you think I am or what kind of assets you think I have or what nationality you think I am, but any negative responses from anyone in this post from Advanced Members, you know who you are, about me quoting an Advanced Member that responds with no positive advice, is arrogant, themselves, and does not understand what the topic was about is definitely not considered an Advanced Member in my eyes or most of the members of ThaiVisa, I'm sure about that. So, before putting down a member who is trying to get help or get helpful advice and not bad advice to further the conversation should not have the title Advanced Member because they are not helping out the community, they are just putting negative responses in the forum so nobody will further the response.

Pig headed, arrogant and negative. Welcome to the Thai visa forums, the place where the positive members and those complimentary of Thailand will never receive any likes.

I think you sent a PM, but sorry I don`t want to get involved with personal messages.

I am one of the lucky people whereas I opened a post office box and a safety deposit box at my bank and several bank accounts in Thailand and abroad decades ago when times were easier and why I now hold on to these accounts like grim death, because I guess these days I probably would not qualify for these accounts again.

As far as I am aware, there are no establishments with strong box facilities other than the main banks. If there were, than I would certainly be cautious.

As I said; times have changed and these days it is much more difficult to rent safety deposit boxes in the banks. You know your situation better than I do and my advice is; first visit all the major banks and make inquiries of how you can qualify to rent a SDB, such as with the SCB and the Bangkok Bank, plus a few other well known banks. The best location is in the Tapae Road where most of the staff speak reasonable English. In the Tapae Road Bangkok Bank branch, there is even a section as you walk in on the left that specialises in dealing with farangs, in fact I have known many of them for over 20 years and for my closest friends able to help them obtain accounts by recommendation.

That`s about all I can advise on this matter and wishing you all success in Thailand.

The UOB bank in Mae Rim just got a bunch of new boxes and has many available according to my neighbor who got one yesterday, don't know the details but he said it was a breeze and not expensive. Not sure about 24/7 security but at night when I drive buy there is always a Sikh by the front door with an 12g 870 Wingmaster.

OP. Please remember that we who have been selected to be in the group "Advanced Members" have earned our wings so to speak. We have worked hard to get where we are on Thaivisa. We are an elite unit, not unlike the Navy Seals or Green Berets. We command an enormous amount of respect due to our membership in that group. Learn from us. If you work hard, perhaps some day you, too, can proudly wear the badge of Advanced Member.

Mesquite, I understand Advanced Members have earned respect and I will respect Advanced Members, but when they give bad advice or "You can't always get what you want", I took that offensive. What I would like to know, as I am a little confused, is how did you take that comment and how did some of the other Advanced Members, in this post, take that comment from an Advanced Member?

Click on your name, click on manage Ignore Prefs, add those blokes to your list - that way the system will not show you their comments (automatic ignore - perfect). Takes a while but eventually you only get comments from those who are not the whingers and whackos - nothing they say is worth the paper its written on - and you wont miss much thumbsup.gif

I never put any one on block. People who do that have been attacked by several people here yet I read their posts as they some times have the information I need or am just plain interested in. I am surer I am on a couple and that is OK with me their loss. Some times I post wrong information not intentionally as some do. Some times I post good material and some times I just post snotty remarks to arrogant people like you and the OP. Put me on ignore. I just might have the answer you need but not the one you want.
