PM Faces Pressure Over Thaksin's Alleged Hospital Fake-Out
To become an electrician, plumber, carpenter or mechanic following the traditional route one would expect to serve an apprenticeship of around 4 years including studying at a technical college maybe one day per week to obtain a formal recognised qualification. Yet it appears anybody with no experience whatsoever can simply slip into the position of prime minister . easy as that. Its not just in Thailand either, we are currently no better off in the UK and have not been so for as long as I can remember. Currently we have a lawyer sat in the hot seat , before him it was some sort of an investment banker. I don't really want to look any further back in time. What is it that makes these people feel qualified to fill such a position? or indeed makes those that put them there feel the same way? I know she's " square faces" sister and he's pulling the strings and making all the decisions etc but it just seems a bit weird to me that totally unqualified people with little to no experience are not only allowed to hold such positions but that they appear to be accepted and taken seriously on the world stage by other politicians many of whom have been at it for years. Personally I wouldn't trust any of them to be capable of completing the most mundane of tasks even making a decent cup of tea. No wonder the world is in such a mess On the other hand I might just have a go myself, can't see that I, or anybody else for that matter would mess up any worse than the current lot -

Soi Hong Nan as it is referred to by many, is a toilet and you see people cooking over top of a grey water drain and vent with the vent directly under the food being prepared. It should be closed. But I have to ask, why does anybody care about the image of one of the largest “reasonably safe” brothels in the world? I have been here since 1997 and I came for exactly that reason alone - not for cheap food or warm sunshine. Vancouver is and was too expensive for girls. -

Cheap decent red wine
Waiting for the tariffs to be pulled. Thailand will never be a place to get really good wine at fair prices but if they lose the tariffs we will be able to get a lot of drinkable juice from Australia, South America and California. Probably Italy and Spain too. The shippers will need to be big enough to offer full containers at first. It will take a few years to sort the French stuff because they will be dumping the plonk on the rubes. I saw this first hand in Mexico and China. Some great bargains though like Chateau LaFite gran Cru du Bordeaux for 800 baht a bottle. Never had the guts to pull the trigger. 😬 Hopefully it will motivate the locals but they are growing the wrong grapes. There are a few drinkable wines made locally but they are sheltered by crazy tariffs and the quality is not there yet. They need to take a page from Banyon Tree in India, where they recruited a bunch of students from the wine university in Barcelona and let them make the wine. It worked, the best wine in India. -
