It seems that Thai people in General have horse blinders on when driving cars or motorcycles, or doing almost anything. In most any endeavor, Thais focus without regard to any outside stimuli, and it can be bloody dangerous.

Say a Light turns green - they just go, never mind checking that a car is about to kill you on an illegal turn coming late, or turning into you. They don't look both ways first, they just go..

It's super impulsive.

It's also culturally inbred, but how did Thais evolve to this stage? It's not Thai bashing - I'm married to one, so I see it every day.

They're still great people..the vast majority of them..

Their attitude is fxxx you jack,i am ok, And just aviod hitting each other. Every thing is done with a selfish attitude, and more or less the opprsite way. to the way people with a brain

think.

That is why good drivers from Europe have problems, becuuse The Thais do not expect politeness and good manners on the road ( the key to road safety),it is way beyond their way of thinkin.

In other words.

NO common sense.

The idea is, you just have to take care of your front end and make sure you don't hit anyone, that's all. What happens around you doesn't matter.

This is how they have explained it to me. Though when they drive bumper to bumper behind you, it sort of works against their theory. I have never seen to many 5km/h accidents in all my life (people driving bumper to bumper).

They also dislike people getting in front of them. I don't know if it is a loss of face or they really think they will be held up because of it. But they will go to any extent to stop you getting in their lane.

But in general, their culture is to simply do as you please without thinking about much else. Whatever else happens isn't your fault cos you were just doing this.

In many ways they are more selfish than us, and in many ways they are less selfish than us.

There are pros and cons to all cultures. I still think there are more pros than cons to Thai culture. I do appreciate them the way they are, for he most part.

Yep That is what i have just more or less said. But you have done it the polite way. I get pissed off when you want to overtake a slow vehicle, you look in the mirror, the closest car approching from behind is 200 to 300 mtr, You indicate, and they excelerate as fast as poss to block you in . This would be a ban from

driving for a long period in Germany If it happened on the Autobahn

Everyday I watch people do the same thing; hit the gas as soon as the light turns green without so much as a glance to see if anyone is running the red. Many are texting or yakking away. Seen a few get T-boned.

By the way, at the moment, I'm in the States.
