May 8, 201511 yr I've been in Bangkok for 18 months, in this time I have had a triple Entry tourist Visa followed by an Ed visa to study Thai at a Language school. Having learnt all the material at this school I decided to move on and attend another this year to learn fresh content. The new school sent off my paperwork to the MOE but had dramas due to the paperwork missing a page of some sort. This is being dealt with but it means I'm not going to have my documents needed to take to Laos before my current Visa runs out. What are my options? My visa runs out on the 15th but chances are my docs wont be returned from the MOE by then. Do I do a bus run to Cambodia and get 15/30 days(not sure how long it is for G7 now) and then run up to Laos once I have the paperwork? If so will I have any trouble at the border and do I need to cancel my ed visa before hand? Should I get my language school to give me a letter explaining there was a problem with paperwork and that I will be attending in the future? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks in Advance.
May 8, 201511 yr Citizens of G7 countries get 30-day visa exempt entries when arriving in Thailand by air or land. Edit: Which can be extended at a Thai immigration office for an additional 30 days at a cost of 1,900 Baht. Edited May 8, 201511 yr by skatewash
May 8, 201511 yr Sorry, was just answering a part of your original question. I don't know about the letter you might need from the school, nor about canceling the ED visa. I'm sure someone with more knowledge on that will be along shortly. You have effectively 60 days to resolve any paperwork problems with your school/MOE by getting a visa exempt entry and extension by doing a border run.
May 8, 201511 yr Only for Nongkhai do you need a cancellation letter, not for a border run to on the crossings with Cambodia. You will gte 30 days and can be extended by 30 days. When the paperwork finally comes trough you can apply for a new ED-visa in Laos.
