Address Complication !- Renewing extension of stay retirement.

I think this is a link for reporting residence. http://www.immigration.go.th/nov2004/base.php

You click the first link and click another link on the bottom left 2nd up from google and you get the link below

Yes we tried this, but it only seems to accept Bangkok addresses, and is in any case for business users.

That's what I thought. Do you think the problems you had this year with the retirement extension had anything to do with the problems you had last year with the retirement extension?

in the paperwork

Last year I had an awful run in with Bkk Immigration, I've never experienced any problems before. It was during the strife, and happened at Bang Kapi. To cut a long story short I had trouble over a triviality. Right from the start the attitude was utterly insulting, virtually threw the forms at me.The final straw was I waited a couple of hours in a queue and it skipped my number. They just ignored me when I presented the ticket number and as I understand Thai I tore them down a strip when I spotted them lying. I honestly think I was lucky to walk out without the visa cancelled. They were dreadful though.

Later I reflected that they must have confused me with someone else, there was no other explanation for the outright hostility. It was really baffling. I came on the boards and made a posting. The consensus opinion with my friends was that the staff were really suffering under the bad working conditions and stress at the time. Certainly there were a few other altercations going on too.

I think it more likely that bad luck has struck me twice, and I tend to me more anxious than others, but I do wonder yes.

My wife came with me a few months ago because we thought it was necessary to report new address. We were told not to worry, and report it when the visa came up for renewal. It seemed odd to me. As I

OP again. I went back to complete my renewal today.

Everything went smoothly. Sure enough my wife's declaration was now on the system, and she had to show id, and we had to submit a google map showing the house, and to cap it all wer had to be photographed together, they used the desk mounted PC cam.

I found it very odd, and feel oddly violated a little, perhaps I am too sensitive.

A very odd place to renew your retirement visa, for me at least.

Agreed. A very odd place to renew a "retirement visa"! Something which does not exist and you will be unable to show ! smile.png

Did they give you an "extension of stay" based on retirement as a consolation prize ? coffee1.gif

Yes Mr Pedantic, the usual 1 year stamp. people often refer to the 1 year extension of stay as a retirement visa, it's easier to tap out on the computer.

What I have stated start to finish is the absolute truth. But I guess I overreact.

I think I am right in saying that any other province I would simply have submitted the required financial information, changed my address, and been on my way.

I suppose time will tell, and if someone else arrives on the forum with a similar story that will be confirmation, whereas if it is only me, well that will indicate that for some reason I am targeted.

You would be mistaken !

Many immigration offices are wanting that specific address report now for all extensions including the office which I deal with.

Emotive over-reactions are never helpful.smile.png

TM30 of course. But as I said it had to be done online, at a website that didn't work. And it had to be supported with a google map, and latterly a mug shot of us both together. I can't see this is standard. It's just a visa extension based on retirement, not a so called 'wife visa'.

I must admit after 11 years dealing with Thais at large, well, I do find them very wearing.

I do agree I must really keep my cool. Then again under reaction isn't good either, somewhat akin to letting yourself get walked all over.

Mostly I kept myself contained.

Any chance you might read the thread before posting further? smile.png

What Immigration offices would those be for a Retirement Extension? I thought Phuket only had their own form and I've only heard of two others. That is hardly many. Perhaps you could list them as it is an important question.

Not Bangkok, Not Pattaya, Not Chiang Mai. So what Immigration offices want them? One rogue office in Issan but I forgot which one. And I don't know of any others. But if there are please list them so they can be added to the checklist for retirement extension at those locations. Every body would be appreciative, I'm sure.

And there is always the chance that if people keep starting the rumor that it is a requirement at many Immigration offices that Thailand may add another requirement to make getting a retirement extension a little bit more difficult.

You wrote, " Many immigration offices are wanting that specific address report (TM-30) now for all extensions" Please list them or retract/change your statement. We would not want to mislead people would we?

Does the wife/girlfriend have to register you as a house guest for compliance when you do your 90 day report. The above seems to relate to the annual extension to stay.

The householder has to register any farang guest if they are staying with them, just like an hotel. When I was staying in the village we went to the police station and they wrote my details in their big book.

Wrong!!!!!! Chiang Mai does require proof of residence.

I had to give proof of address when extending ( retirement ) at C M, but they didn't want a photo of my wife and I or a map. It's a retirement extension for goodness sake, you don't have to be married to get one.

They are just making it up. Perhaps I will tell them I am getting a divorce if they insist on that next time.

Wrong!!!!!! Chiang Mai does require proof of residence.

The question was does Chiang Mai require (that specific address report) a TM30 for an extension of stay for retirement. I don't believe they do. If they require a TM30 then I am wrong (about CM). If they don't require a TM30 then you are wrong, in relation to my statement.

Asking for proof of residence and a TM 30 are two different things. Could you clarify and state what CM immigration requires A. Proof of residence or a B. TM30 form?

In other words were you asked for a filled TM30 when you did a retirement extension at CM immigration?

No Chiang Mai does not require a TM 30 for retirement extension ( at the moment, but next week who knows ), just PROOF of address. I don't get why any office would want a TM 30 as part of the extension process, but if they do, they are clearly making it up. If I misunderstood the question, apologies

Of course, a TM 30 is required as a matter of routine when staying anywhere in Thailand.

It seems like the immigration offices have been told to make it more difficult to get extensions. None of the extra requirements that have been brought in over the past 4 years are noted on the TM 47. It used to be a letter from the bank to confirm 800,000 and a photocopy of the last page in the bank book, not all this made up stuff. Every time now, it's something new.

I was speaking to someone at the office that says he is leaving Thailand for good because he has had enough of the official BS.

At least your last sentence contains good news ! cheesy.gif

When will you be leaving ?coffee1.gif

I've done my visa extention yearly at the Suratthani immigration since it exist, at present all are women officers as you walk in a row of chairs for waiting without a Q card a women officer below the sign one stop service will entertain your paperwork when she signal your turn, another desk behind her sits a women captain will sign your visa if all is good, the chief of the department is a gentlement though, once a while he comes around but you can't tell, he's not in uniform unless you know him and he's the commander.Well, mommmysboy's been told to do online official address confirmation by house owner, i read it and i can confirmed every word of it is true and correct. You will always be told to do online if regarding address and google maps just like you say a small piece of paper with the webside refering the suratthani immigration and yes i know how imposssible it is to access the very confusing website. The remedy is to ask the one stop women officer to kindly do you a favour. Please do it for me through your wedsite, i'm an old men not good at computor, and do not criticize their website cos they go through the Thai version. I know you've been very polite like anyone else applying for visa and you only had to do it once and this is as far as i know concerning this subject at this office only it might differ elswhere and rules keep changing and if you're expecting something standard,no way but at the end of the day if you're granted your visa if it was me i can accept it. Cheers up i'm older than you.

On line "address" reporting ?

Do you mean online 90 day reports or something else ?

If you are talking about on line submission of TM30 forms that is only available to registered businesses such as hotels and guest houses. It is not available for use by individuals.
