Non-o 1year visa runs

Featured Replies

I have a 1 year non-o visa

i can`t show funds for the 1st 90 day renewal so i will need to pop out of the country to get my next 90 days

do i need to fly out from the main international airport or can i go from u-tapao,don muang, by train or land?

i am sure this has been asked so many times but just want to clear it up

also when my year is nearly up do i need 400,000 baht in a thai bank account?

You can leave by any method of transport and re-enter by any method of transport, so crossing by land will be fine.

You only need the money in the bank if you want to apply for a 1 year extension of stay, if not you can apply for a new 1 year non-O visa and leave every 90 days.

You get a new stay of 90 days every time you enter Thailand while the visa itself is still valid. By leaving and reentering just before it expires you get anew 90 days and thus almost 15 months out of the visa.

Think you must tell what you really have regarding a visa. A one year NON -O you must leave LOS at or before 90 days and return if you want same day.. No money requirement..........

Enter another country and return by any means you want.

12 month Marriage extension 400,000 in a thai bank for 2 months or 40,000 monthly income.

12 month Retirement extension 800,000 in a Thai bank for 2 months or 65,000 monthly income or a combination of both.

Funds for what 90 day " renewal " ?

What exactly do you have stamped /stuck in the passport ?

If you have a VALID NON "O" multi entry visa all that is needed is for you to exit the country every 90 days and then return to be granted another 90 day stay NO funds are required .............................

You can fly or travel by land entirely your choice .

If you eventually hope to secure an extension of stay based on marriage you will need 400,000 Bht in a Thai bank OR evidence in the form of an Embassy letter of an income of 40.000 Bht/month

When you are under the status of a Non Immigrant Multi-Entry 'O' Visa -- issued for a term of one year and can be extended with correct timing to 15 months. There are no financial requirements ... you just Exit and Re-Enter Thailand every 90 days to be given another 90 day permission to stay. I did this for 15 months --- never any problem -- just Out and Back in -- no waiting -- just go back through.

The only time financial requirements come into play is when you change from the Non Imm Multi 'O' to an Extension of Stay based on Retirement ...

No, the one-year period for which the visa is valid for travel to Thailand cannot be extended, but it is true that on every arrival during the validity period of the visa, the traveller will be given permission to stay for 90 days.

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place

thank you for all your easy to understand replies

i was referring to the end of my 1 year visa and how to get another year. i assume that i need 400,000 to get another 1 year non-o or extension. unfortunately i am too young to retire and cannot prove my income through the embassy

i will plan some trips away then a day or so before my 90 day deadline.

If you want another 1 year multi-entry "O" visa based on marriage it must be applied for .

Savannakhet, Laos is about the only place in the region where this visa will be issued without the need to show finances .

You will, of course need the correct paperwork to support the application..

thank you for your advice, i have not been to laos before so a trip there may be an eye opener. so i go a couple of days before my 12 months is up with all the same documents i used to get the one from the UK and wait for them to process it.

sorry i sound so dumb, first time i have done it

can i get a multiple entry one there and any idea of cost, waiting time please?

I am still not sure what you have now. Do you have a one year extension of stay or a non-o visa?

You wrote that you do not have money for the 90 day renewal. What do your mean by that? If you have an extension of stay you just make a 90 day report which does not require any proof of funds.

As said you can get a multiple entry non-o visa based upon marriage at the consulate in Savannakhet Laos without financial proof. You will need your marriage certificate plus a copy, signed and dated copies of your wife's house book registry and ID card. You apply by 11 am on day one and pick it up the next afternoon at 2 pm. The fee is 5000 baht.

thank you, sorry to confuse you

At the mo i have a non-o visa. i have only been here for 4 weeks.

i was told that if i can show 400,000 baht on my first 90 day report in my bank for 60 days out of the 1st 90 then i wont have to do visa runs, just report every 90 days to my local immigration office with proof of address etc

i think i will just do runs and have some small hols with the family

It is an extension of stay you would apply for not a report. The 90 day reports start after you get the extension.

Is your visa a multiple or single entry? If a single you will have to go to Savannakhet Laos to apply for a multiple entry visa.

oh right ok

i have a multiple entry visa

I have a multi entry based on marriage. If I go to the border and exit can I re-enter without having to get a Lao or Cambodia visa or whatever (ie saving money and passport pages)?

If so any idea of the best border to do this? I live in Bangkok.

I was thinking of flying out and in on the same day. Seam Reap I think. There is a morning flight out and an afternoon one back.

Cheers

Thanks for the help.

You have to enter another country which in the case of Laos and Cambodia involves purchasing the required visa.

Depending on your nationality entry to Malaysia does not require a visa to be purchased.

If going to Cambodia you can avoid the visa sticker by getting a e-visa ($37). See: https://www.evisa.gov.kh

From Bangkok you could also go to the Ban Phu Nam Ron in Kanchanaburi and cross to Myanmar. No visa sticker. Cost is 900 baht for transport across no mans land and the border pass.

If flying out and back KL Malaysia is good. As said no visa fee or sticker.
