Do many Thais not deal with refusal/rejection very well?

Just saw a story in the BK Post.

Customer refused a refund on a product. Goes outside, damages the business owner's car, then returns and shoots him dead while also shooting his wife and store manager.

Not long ago, man is refused extra chili sauce with his Khao Man Gai. Gets his gun, returns, shoots the vendor.

The 1 Baht killer. Gas Station attendant puts in 1 baht too much. Asks the customer to pay. The customer refuses. The attendant pulls out his gun and shoots him in the head.

Female uni student breaks up with her boyfriend, he goes to her apartment, shoots the security officer dead then executes her.

And these are only stories that make it into the English press here.

Do many Thais deal with refusal/rejection poorly?

Geez man, you're bringing up examples of crazy people doing crazy things. I can give you countless examples in the USA and beyond. A woman calling 911 (emergency number/police) because her internet was down and she couldn't do Facebook. Or some guy who attacked his son's little league manager because his son was pulled from a game. Or some lady who went berserk at a McDonald's drive-through because she couldn't get her McNuggets. And so on, and so on.

People acting crazy is not a "Thai thing." Or are you suggesting that this is normal in Thai society?

Yes, but, the majority of these don't end in death.

Because Thai society is paternalistic and values consensus, they don't learn conflict resolution as we do in the West, where arguing is considered normal and there is no "face" to lose.

To all those people who think that Thais are so different, how does your gf respond to refusal or rejection. How do your friends respond to it did they kill people or go crazy ? I doubt it. Your friends and your GF are Thai too and it stands to reason that how they respond on average is how an average Thai would respond.

But hey have fun putting Thais down if it makes you feel better. I often think that many foreigners never amounted much in their life in the west. Average or below average job / intelligence and now finally they have more money as the locals and they feel important. So they want put the Thais down to feel better themselves.

You're kidding me, right? I just brought up those examples off the top of my head. A few minutes on Google and I found the following:

And yes, some of these crazy episodes tragically ended in death. Do you want some more examples? These are fairly recent. There are thousands more.

I know many, many Westerners that have had major problems when they have dumped Thai girlfriends. (high, middle, and low levels of society). Some have been reported to immigration, some have reported imaginary thefts to the police, some have been told that they are going to report them for rape (one of these was a nurse with a degree from Chula), the list in endless. Not only the average dumped girl, but almost every dumped girl has nastily gone out of their way to cause problems or threaten.

None of my friends in the West have had experiences like this for rejecting a girl.

Also, do you understand the word 'many'.

Dead boyfriends cant respond, Thailand has one of the highest gun crime rates in the world

http://www.nationmaster.com/country-info/stats/Crime/Murders-with-firearms

Soon to be hub of firearms crimes as most of the above incidents mentioned for Thailand in the OP used firearms, sure it happens anywhere but as much????????

Yes, it happens, but, look at each case against that countries population.

In Thailand, it happens very, very frequently. Chuck in all the penis severings (the world's most) and all the crazy fights and stabbings over inconsequential stuff and I still believe Thailand has way more of these incidents for the reasons I have described, than most other countries.

Is it a coincidence that most of your examples are Hispanics? With their macho culture, they also have "face" issues.

Some 15000+ murders in the USA per year

"

Those Americans seem to have serious refusal/rejection issues or maybe its just "anger management" issues in the "States" ?

Is there actually a world league table of penis severings?

It's no accident that Thailand is recognized as the world's number one authority on penis re-attachment surgery.

Please provide evidence in the form of credible , authoritative, links which justifies what is claimed

Wow. Wikipedia really does have a page on everything.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Penis_removal

Seems like the Chinese might be the world leaders.

I like this one best

On August 19, 2001, in Battambang, Cambodia, a 23-year-old Cambodian man, Rin Bros, was dragged from a police station by a gang of women who severed his penis and chopped it to pieces. They then killed him by beating and stabbing him. Bros was accused of three rapes and was being questioned by the police before the women stormed the police station and killed him as soon as they heard he was there. The police took no action and just watched the women during the murder, and none of the women were arrested or punished

"If penis reconstruction is not done, the patient will have to squat in order to urinate since doctors reroute the entrance of the urethra to below the scrotum"

Talk about adding insult to injury.

In September, 2003, an 18-year old student from Halle, Germany, cut off his own penis and tongue with a pair of garden shears, whilst under the influence of the hallucinogenic plant "Angel's Trumpets". Physicians were not able to reattach either organ.

Tough comedown.

Thai guys are INSANELY jealous, and it stems from thinking they are the center of the universe. Should they be rejected, their whole world would be crushed. I Think that's part of the reason for keeping relationships quiet.. At least they can save face when one dumps the other.
