So how many pages will the new USA Passports have? It seems obvious many people need more than the usual amount of pages. Will there be options to get the new passport with more than some nominal amount of pages, i.e. pay more up front and get more pages initially?

You can already get a passport with a larger number of pages (52), for "people who frequently travel abroad", at no extra charge when applying for your passport.

Thanks. Mine has a few more years on it, so not much I will do at the moment.

mine was due to expire in dec 2018,and had one page left, got a new one in Feb 2015

out reach also supplies 52 page ones, no reason to travel to Bangkok, make apt etc etc.

they mail it to you ems for 60 baht...

reason they are eliminating the extra [ages ( i was told) is security issues)

I called the Embassy regarding this service and the lady told me if I want the passport mailed back--as opposed to picking up the new one at the Embassy--I would have to surrender the current passport (to the Embassy 'outreach' officer) and to expect the new passport to arrive by mail in "about 3 weeks".

I'll pass on that option--for obvious reasons...
