duck duck go is ur friend

In reality June is often a very pleasant month to travel as the weather can remain relatively dry and the sky-high temperatures of the past few months are subdued. Showers tend to be relatively short lived, increasing in intensity as we head towards July.

The central plains to the south of Mandalay remain the hottest and driest region of the country, with temperatures still in the low to mid 30’s°C. Elsewhere the mercury tends to hover around 30°C, so still far from chilly!

Most of the beach resorts will be closed by mid-June as they prepare for the less favourable weather expected in the coming months.

Thanks for the reply. It says that most beach resorts will close in mid June. That's a bit of a bummer since we were planning on visiting Yangon, Bagan and an idyllic beach somewhere.

Beach resorts in Myanmar are a joke and ridiculously overpriced for what you get.

And most are closed during rainy season for a reason.

Skip the beach, Myanmar has so much more to offer, even in rainy season (and when it's not raining it is HOT AS HELL).

less tourists, lower prices and better services. Ayarwaddy looks particularly lovely in rainy season (though June is a bit early for that).

If you require a few relaxing days on a beach in rainy season, I strongly recommend Khao Lak, which is veeeeeeery quiet and laid back in rainy season, and 5-star accom to be had for 1.500++ THB

OK, I guess the beach is out then. I was also thinking about a river cruise on the Irrawaddy but it seems they are running in the high season only? My planned itinerary is; Fly into Yangon and spend a couple of days before flying up to Mandalay. Spend a couple of days there before going to (air/train/boat?) Bagan. Another couple of days there before (again; air /train/boat?) goingback to Yangon and flying back to Bangkok.

Any comments/suggestions to this itinerary?

yea why not just fly back to Bangkok from Mandalay?

Last july i did the boat Mandalay-Bagan spent 2 full days ( plenty) 8 or so hours

1 day for pagodas, 1 day town

and than took the train back, 7 1/2 hours and only $2.80 for upper class

I don't think there are any tourist-oriented boat cruises on the Ayarwaddy in June as the rainy season is only about to start. Last time I was in the Mandalay area was in a late August and water levels were pretty high and offered plenty of lovely and unusual photo-taking opportunities.
