Safe place to rent a motorbike for a week?

Featured Replies

Whats a decent place to rent a motorbike for a week? Not the funny rip offs where they come with a second key at night and steal the bike etc.

The above never happened to me, but I was always told never to give them the real address as it would be a common scam.

Any recommendations where to rent one of those automatic scooters for a week and what price to expect?

As long as you give a fake address and do not give out your passport (copy is okay) you should be okay.

Expect around 150 baht per day or 3000 per month.

England. Don't know the cost but you will likely stay alive during your hire period.

Rented from a lot of places in Jomtien, Never had a problem, Naklua too

Renting a couple of times from a booth next to my hotel at Soi Lengkee.

He knows where I stay, 30 m up the street.

Makes a passport copy.

Advance payment (1000) plus 1000 Baht deposit.

Supplys an addtional locker for the brake.

No problem ever.

If you are paranoid: bring your own locker with you (as is needed for hotels without room safe but lockers at the basement).

Not too big a locker as it has to fit the holes in the brake disk.

Asking to leave passport as "deposit"? Does it still happen?

Move on.

If you live at a hotel they will also usually "broker" and call a renter who delivers the bike to the hotel.

Also very unlikely that they work with a crook.

Also check the bike for scratches and take pictures of any damage while the renter is looking. That will deter the renter from blaiming you for any old damage.

send pic to his email address in same time simulate a fake call to your lawyer asking if OK to rent a bike.

Or say you are a cop, lawyer, Russian mafia....

Hallmark bike rental ( formerly kassaya) is 2000 per month. Never a problem. Can't be beat!
