I'm looking for a place to rent and float in the river on small boat (kayak?)

In Chonburi or around 2 hours of driving from Pattaya.

For fun, not for challenge.

I've never heard of anything like that. Kanchanaburi has some options, but I don't think within 2 hours of Chonburi. Plenty of options if you can do it in the sea....

Rivers around here are quite dirty. Not sure I'd want to risk it.

Try Klaeng - East of Rayong - Put this location in Google Earth or a GPS location 12.773477° 101.675255°. Its a homestay type of place with a range of accommodation some wooden huts built over river and do good food. They also rent out barges to go and see 'fireflies' on dark dark nights very pleasant - but with Karaoke machines to while away the waiting hours. OK OK they also rent out canoes from memory have at least 3 - Feelfree sit on tops probably doubles They not the only location of this style nearby

Its a huge river system slow flowing and pretty clean still dominated by Mangrove swamps. Easy to make an adventure and canoe down to sea Prasat (old US warship hard aground) - lots of Thai fishing communities along the way all in all would say off the beaten track.
