Woman dies after fall from tree in Pattaya

PATTAYA: -- A 44 year old woman died after she fell approximately 7 meters from a tree as she inspected a bird’s nest in a high branch.

The incident occurred in the Huay Yai area in the South-eastern outskirts of Pattaya and caused the death of Khun Chaliaew.

The victim’s friend, Khun Som aged 48 told Police that the pair had earlier gone searching for ant’s nests so they could harvest the edible ant’s eggs. The victim spotted broken eggs at the base of a tree and spotted a bird’s nest which she decided to check and potentially remove the bird’s eggs for consumption.

Removing bird's eggs for consumption...unless that bird was been an Emu, otherwise,

why bother with 2-3 tiny eggs to feed on?

Didn't another lady fall out of a tree in Pattaya 6 or 8 months ago, I guess it never gets reported in Issan.

Unbelievable!!!!

At age 44 you would think one would have learned that the birds generally build their nests in places as far away from predators as possible....

Well, the two women were out searching for ant's eggs, which are even smaller.

But the answer to your question may be that she was poor and any eggs are better than no eggs.

A post all in Capital letters removed.

I know that Thais can eat anything but the egg of ants ? You need a lot of eggs to make a delicious meal.

Anyway RIP.

. Everybody eats ant Eggs in Issan, you ll see people with long sticks all over Issan , walking motorbikes, they take the whole nest in one piece, Then fry them with scrambled eggs or pieces of fish, I would not dare, but they love it...
