Thai Paypal account

Featured Replies

For many years I have a Paypal account in my home country linked to my credit card.

My Thai address is registered with Ebay and Paypal as an alternative shipping address, and as so is the first address that shows up on check out.

For some reason Paypal start to whine recently that if I I ship to Thailand I should register a new Paypal account linked to a Thai bank account or Thai credit card, and that they can block my account for this reason.

I don't really understand what the issue is, since I still hold a ID card from my home country.

But fine, I don't have a credit card in Thailand, and with my other PP account I always used the exchange rate of my CC because it is much better than the Paypal exchange rate.

How does this work in Thailand?

i once heard that you can't link to a Thai bank account, only to a Thai CC, which I currently don't have.

How about the exchange rate, will it be as favorable as the one with my Mastercard, or do Thai banks take a commission on such payments?

Your advice is appreciated.

Open a KTB account, register for a virtual cc card (atm card but works as a cc) that is only used on the internet. Use it to register with Paypal.

Is this only possible with KTB, since I have a Kasikorn ATM card that is visa certified. Is this the same?

I am a bit wary of KTB since I hear that they are 20 years behind on other Thai banks if it concern online and service, so if the same is possible with other banks would be preferable.

How are the exchange rates?

I warn you about opening a Thai Paypal additionally. I did that and somehow they figured it out that I have 2 paypal accounts and blocked the money for 6 month and now I am banned from Paypal for lifetime.

You can have two PayPal accounts but one is suppose to be a personal account and one a business account. But some people apparently do get two personal PayPal accounts opened and it may be a while before PayPal catches on.

No problem having 2 accounts, you just have to use different email addresses.

Kasikorn works fine for a Thailand PayPal account.

I opened mine with a different email address to my former home PayPal account.

Linked both my Kasikorn accounts to my Thailand PayPal.

I have the K-web Shopping Card, which is the virtual credit card (visa), works a treat.

Kasikorn gets a thumbs up for PayPal use.

Do they use TT rate and/or are there costs involved?

Last month, when I tried to make a deposit to my US based PayPal account from Thailand, PayPal would not allow it. I was in the middle of an online purchase. I had to open a Thai based PayPal account using a different email address...funded directly from my Bangkok Bank Visa Debit card. Purchase went through and goods arrived.

I'm still waiting for the hammer to drop on the US account. I'm sure I will hear from them at some point. No balance in the account so nothing at risk.

When I applied for my Thai Pay Pal account the only bank accepted at that time was the "BeFirst" debit card offered by Bangkok Bank. I only wanted a Thai PayPal account because many shippers would only ship to a verified pay pal address and my US address was not acceptable

I have read here at Thai Visa that PayPal is now accepting K bank accounts to back up the Thai PayPal account and that some posters have been able to get two "two verified" paypal addresses

And yes you can have as many PayPal accounts as you want so long as they have different email addresses. And PayPal tells you to do this so it is legitimate

Mainly use mine for puchases, so here is the latest transaction for some software

Conversion from: -฿117.60 THB Conversion to: €3.00 EUR Exchange rate: 1 Thai Baht = 0.0255 Euros

There was no charge to pay.

I received funds from the UK (GBP300) in March, conversion of 14,128.11 baht, and no fee to transfer in to my linked Kasikorn account

Conversion from: -£300.00 GBP Conversion to: ฿14,128.11 THB Exchange rate: 1 British Pound = 47.0937 Thai Baht
