Embassy's issuing EDU Visa around Germany/CH

Featured Replies

Hi Guys

I am leaving Thailand for some weeks and plan to come back on an EDU visa.. i am currently with an EDU Visa, which is expiring end of July(first year), so gotta leave the country anyway..

Has anyone heard or practical experiences lately, which Embassy is issuing EDU Visas in Germany/Austria/France? I am Swiss but no Embassy in Switzerland is making EDU Visa's anymore..

thanks for any advices

Chris

Did you try one of the honorary consulates in Switzerland.

Their is only one embassy in each country.

In Germany there is the embassy in Berlin an official consulate in Frankfort plus some honorary consulates.

This webpage has links for the embassies and official consulates. http://www.thaiembassy.org/main/

List of honorary consulates is here. http://www.guidetothailand.com/thailand-travel-information/honcon-europe.php

I suggest you contact some of them.

So consulates don't necessarily have the same visa offer as their embassy?

Interesting ...

Honorary consulates often will do visas an embassy or official consulate will not do and their requirements will be less stringent.

The embassy in Berlin at least list the conditions for and ED visa in its regulations:

(update Sep 2014)

During my time (2010) they had a pretty useful telephone helpline in the afternoon.

OP: If you are Swiss, try the Stuttgart Consulat. less than 2 hrs by car from swiss border, and they are usually quite generous handing out Visas, albeit not always the friendliest bunch since the actual Consul passed away a few years ago. they do have an (outdated) website where you can find contact options. google is your friend.

thanks all for the answers..

I called the one Royal Embassy in Bern yesterday..

The women told me: Yes we can do EDU Visas but you'll need to come and show the papers first, then she started to ask me question on how old i am, if i study at an university etc..

So i am not sure if that really works, .. according to information of another school in Chiang Mai, 2 other applicants have been turned down in that Embassy in Bern.. could be bullocks info too i don't know..

question: what happens if the visa gets turned down? Are the papers still valid and can i just go to another place and try it again?

@Siam2007: thanks, i checked theyre website yesterday.. that would be really a valuable alternative if the embassy in Bern turns me down..

Hi you can do it at the Consulate in Basel, should be no problem, if you have all the Papers!

In my experience an honorary consulate is much much better than a Embassy in any country.

Zürich never did it - are you 100% sure Basel is issuing it? Did you or someone you know got theyre EDU Visa in Basel recently? Last 2-3 months?
