Police beef up fight against vice and illegal racing

Two riders are stopped at a police checkpoint in Pathum Thani that was mainly set up to intercept illegal street racers.

Thai students still in detention in Lahore, pending legal procedures

Bt100 million assets seized after raids on drug networks

Lottery vendor fined for overpricing

KORAT: -- A lottery vendor in Nakhon Ratchasima's Phimai district was yesterday arrested for selling three lottery tickets at Bt90 each to a customer.

As Somboon Sahatsukmankhong, 71, confessed to selling the tickets at a higher price than the capped price of Bt80. Police halved the fine to Bt5,000 and released after giving him a warning. The country's retail vendors are required to sell lottery tickets at Bt80 or face a maximum fine of Bt10,000 and/or up to one month in prison.

New machines to replace use of methyl bromide in rice fumigation

Turkish couple rescued after getting lost on hike in Phuket forest

NRC to conclude works end of this month

BANGKOK: -- The National Reform Council will hold a meeting on June 30 to conclude its works for complying a report to pass on the unfinished tasks to the new reform driving council, Wanchai Sonsiri, secretary general of the NRC whips, said Sunday.

He said the NRC will hold a meeting Monday to discuss preparations for the June 30 meeting.
