Thai police pleased with 'Cobra III' effort
THE NATION

BANGKOK: -- Thai police said yesterday that their role in "Operation Cobra III" - a global operation to combat wildlife poaching and trafficking - was "most satisfying".

Police and related agencies in 62 countries took part in this operation, including the United States and China, which comprised the exchanging of information and tracking of wildlife trade routes.

The operation also saw more than 300 criminals arrested and more than 600 major seizures, including 12 tonnes of elephant tusks, 119 rhino horns and 344 turtles.

The most outstanding outcome was the seizure of 4.3 tonnes of ivory from a smuggler, who was taking the items from Congo to Laos via Thailand.

Well of course the police are pleased with themselves but do you believe you

would ever be good at chess if you just "played " yourself ?

It looks like Thailand continues to be the Hub for Illegal Ivory Transportation despite the Junta's efforts for the last year.

It's time Thailand ban ivory trade.
