Retirement Extension Update

Featured Replies

  • Popular Post

Went to Chaeng Wattana Thursday June 18, 2015 to apply for a one year extension based on retirement-

Documents brought:

Application Form TM7 Filled out with one photo

Statutory Declaration from US Embassy-Income method

Copy of Passport- identity page plus TM Card and pages that had prior entries/exits.

Proof of Residence- it was asked for ( I used wife's. House Registration as she is Condo Owner ) (They would have accepted a name card from Condo, Utility Bill etc.)

1900 Thai Baht.

They asked for nothing else and I offered nothing else

I arrived at 1015 AM-obtained Queue number called for interview at 1130 AM- out with One year extension at 1145 AM They had 6 Officers working- Very efficient and professional.

Thanks to UbonJoe for his always correct information.

Does the ref to being called for interview mean that this was your first retirement extension?

The reason I ask is that I was interviewed for my first retirement extension but haven't been interviewed for any of my 5 subsequent extensions to date.

It was not my first extension- By interview I meant presenting my documents- no questions asked except asking for my proof of address.. On a previous extension years ago for marriage I was asked to present my original passport proving I was in Thailand on the date of marriage.. I had already been married 20years- when I came back the next day with the passport showing date of entry- the officer's mouth dropped . In those days , you had to renew a passport every 5 years and an entry visa to Thailand was good for 15 days by air or land. A tourist Visa was 30 days . To extend you had to put the equivalent of $1000 in a Thai Bank. No computers back then. God, I miss those days!!! I do believe I am showing my age,

Cheers and Best Wishes.
