Bin Laden’s son asked US for father’s death certificate – WikiLeaks

WikiLeaks has released a letter revealing how one of Osama bin Laden’s sons had asked Washington for a death certificate after US Navy SEALS said they had taken him out.

The document is one of 70,000 collectively dubbed “The Saudi Cables.” The trove, in its turn, is part of an even bigger collection totaling more than half a million papers tracing back to the Saudi Foreign Ministry and other institutions in the country. Those will be released in the coming weeks, WikiLeaks has said.

According to the cable, the son of Bin Laden, the suspected 9/11 mastermind and Al Qaeda leader, wrote to the US Embassy in Saudi Arabia requesting the certificate on September 9, 2011.

But the reply from Glen Keiser, US Consul General at the Riyadh embassy, refused Abdullah bin Laden’s request. Keiser said that no such document exists, and that this is “consistent with regular practice for individuals killed in the course of military operations.”

Someone having a problem getting his inheritance?

Sounds like it.

He probably had to resort to newspaper reports. I wonder if the banks accepted them.

Mind you, the rejection letter from the embassy essentially confirmed the death..

I think it is hilarious. The young bin Laden must have a sense of humour.

Who else would he ask?

He would have a better chance asking and receiving his father stash of porno tapes than his death

certificate... and why did he wanted it? to claim from life insurance maybe?

The gov't should have a little fun and send him a letter saying they would, but that according to the DNA sample, Osama wasn't his father.

How very cheeky. "The son of Bin Laden, wrote to the US Embassy ... requesting the certificate on September 9, 2011".

How arrogant that islamic mother f***** is!!!

I would think that it would be up to the Pakistani gov't to issue a death certificate as that is the country where he died.

where is the proof he is dead ? why wouldnt the us take him alive , far more valuable alive. im cant buy into this story at all.

He was already pretty much a spent force at the time of his murder. He would be of little value if he were alive. He would be a greater liability alive than dead. His time had passed.

Clever boy...obtaining a death certificate from the US might open up an investigation into criminal war crimes against the Bin Laden family which has already been gleefully acknowledged by the US...

War crimes against the Bin Laden family? Is that the same family that was allowed to fly out of the US after 9/11 when the rest of the country wasn't allowed to fly? Is that the same family that had the full protection of the then President of the USA?

There may have been a war crime, but it certainly wasn't against the Bin Laden family.

There's an old saying......two people can keep a secret, provided one of them is dead.

Too many people in on this to keep a secret, and even the Seal who fired the killing shot/s couldn't keep his mouth shut, in keeping with their code of silence, when it came to a few $$ for telling his story.

If it wasn't BL (should probably be BS) somebody would have spilt their guts by now.
