PHUKET: -- Police are currently on the hunt for Somsak Pankhao who is, they say, one of Phuket̕s biggest drug dealers, after two of his roommates were arrested with drugs and guns in Srisoonthon on Monday (June 22).

On Wednesday (June24), Provincial police held a press conference to announce the arrest of two people found in possession of drugs, guns and ammunition.

The two, who were arrested at a rented home in Moo Baan Panason on Thepkassattri Rd, were named as Thammanoon Kaewsrinuan, 31, from Nakorn Sri Thammarat and Klongsiri Rongsakulm, 24, from Udon Thani.

The two were found in possession 240.80 grams of crystal meth (ya ice), 50 methamphetamine pills (ya bah), an unregistered M3 submachine gun, two magazines, an unregistered Luger Po8 pistol, 28 rounds of .45 bullets, 10 rounds of 9mm bullets, six round of .32 bullets, 11 rounds of 6.35 bullets, digital scales and drug taking paraphernalia.

The arrest of Thammanon and Klongsiri came after police arrested Nontapon Chaipakdee on June 17 for drug possession and he told police he got his drugs from Somsak.

He told police that Somsak was a local dealer who rented a home in a Phanason housing complex with Thammanon and Klongsiri.

“Somsak keeps his drugs in the rented home,” Nontapon said.

On Monday at 3:30pm, undercover police reported that Thammasak had come home with a significant amount of drugs he just picked up from Mr Somsak.

Police, led by Lt Ritthichai Chumchoy, arrived at the Phanason home and identified themselves before searching the property where they found the drugs in small bags ready to be distributed along with the guns and ammunition.

Police said that Thammanon and Klongsiri told them that all the items belong to their roomate Somsak Pankhao and that he would pay them B500-B1000 for each time they delivered drugs for him.

Police attempted to set up a sting opeartion on Mr Somsak but were unsuccessful.

Thammanon and Klongsiri were now being held at Phuket Provincial Police Station where they were charged with possession of Category1 drugs with intent to sell, illegal possession of firearms and ammunition and possessing unregistered firearms.
