Prayut to Chiang Mai today for 2-day mobile cabinet meeting



CHIANG MAI: -- Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha will preside over the first mobile cabinet meeting in Chiang Mai to be held from June 29-30 at the International Convention and Exhibition Centre Commemorating His Majesty’s 7th Cycle Birthday Anniversary.

Gen Prayut will arrive in Chiang Mai at 4 pm Monday.

Upon arrival, he will visit Doi Suthep Rajworaviharn temple to pay respect to the relics of the Lord Buddha, and then will meet the people at the farm product market at Chiang Mai Official Centre.

He will preside over the cabinet meeting on Tuesday.

It was expected that the development plan and the second international airport for Chiang Mai to cope with tourism boom after ASEAN becomes a single economic community goes into effect next year will be raised at the meeting.

Security was placed at maximum as authorities were concern of anti government movement as the province is known to be the stronghold of red-shirt people.

Thousands of troops, police and district officials were engaged in providing security during the two-day cabinet meeting.

But a redshirt activist Sgt Phichit Tamool assured redshirt people in 17 northern provinces will remain calm as they wanted the government to work and achieve its road map.

He said he has coordinated with regional army commander to ensure of the position of the redshirts that they would hold no activities.

Actually I thought these guys had moved on until I tried to watch Schindlers List on TV last night only to have it interrupted by another propaganda show.
