My wife has a daughter from before I met her. Been with the wife for 8yrs and want the daughter to take my name. Her dad died 3yrs ago. He was a welder possibly to many fumes. Met him so I know its not bs. Im a Scotsman and unfortunately British. Any help would be great. Thanks.

You can legally adopt her here. How old is she? she can go to the amphur and make a written statement that she want you to be her father.

Ask your wife to talk with Poo Yai ban, as he may be required at family court to make a witness statement that you all been together as a

family.

You are best to head to court and talk with lawyer officer there due to the legality process. After that, get the adoption registered at the UK embassy, as

gaining UK nationality via adoption is a possibility but obviously has to be proper 100% legit bonafide legal adoption before she can get a UK Passport.

You can contact the UK embassy and ask few questions there, best shot!

Oh and there is an age limit for adoption, looked into it about a year back can't remember what it is.

You dont really need a lawyer.....It could make the process take longer and cost

more. Check withe the amphur regarsing what you need to do. Also....when I went thru the process I remember it helped when I said I was not taking the child home rather we were staying here.
