Zucchini in Bangkok?

Featured Replies

Where in Bangkok can I buy zucchini? I can't remember ever seeing it anywhere but I was thinking of trying Villa and Gourmet Market (Em Quartier) in Phrom Phong today, any suggestions?

I bought them this morning in Big C, which was a bit of a surprise. "Farm Boy" organic brand. 103 baht/Kg.

Usually available in Villa and Gourmet Market. Not so often in TOPS.

Plenty in Gourmet Market, Villa, Foodland and Maxvalu.

Great thank you so much!

Make sure you get Zucchini and not japanese cucumber! I made the mistake and japaneses cucumber does not make a good substitute for Spaghetti! Zucchini does! (after shredding with spiral shredder)

That's exactly what I want to use it for! Did you get the spiral slicer here? I was planning to just use a box grater.

I often see it at the Makro in Chiang Mai. I assume Makro would also offer it in Bangkok. One thing I've noticed about a lot of the zucchini grown in Thailand. It can often have a bitter flavor.

Of course it is often labelled as "courgette"...

That would be the English term.wai2.gif

Indeed it is. The proper term.thumbsup.gif

Courgette is a French loanword- a word borrowed from a donor language and incorporated into a recipient language without translation.

Like a lot of words. Doesn't make it any less English!
