Thailand holiday tragedy

PHUKET: -- Friends and colleagues of a Perth electrician who died while on holiday in Thailand this week say they lost a true character who always went above and beyond to help out.

A regular visitor to Phuket, Shayne Gentry went there on June 19 for a two-week break.

He also visited Bangkok and this week was in Patong, where he is believed to have had a motorcycle accident on Tuesday and died soon after. His parents and two friends went to Thailand yesterday to bring him home.

Mr Gentry began his electrical career 10 years ago as an apprentice and worked his way up to an electrical supervisor.

His boss Kosta Susnjar, a senior supervisor at B&A Electrical, said Mr Gentry started with him as a 16-year-old and his death had hit the close-knit workforce hard.

there should be a law stopping ferangs from hiring motorcycles here in the land of no road rules

I got 50 years experience on motorcycles and I definitely would not ride a bike on any busy road in Thailand

Link is not working for me.
