Village headman Amnoyporn Samneing hands his complaint to Gov Nisit.

PHUKET: -- A Srisoonthon village headman filed a formal complaint to Phuket Governor Nisit Jansomwong yesterday (July 1) alleging that two men acting as police came to his office on Monday (June 29) and carried out a search.

At 4pm yesterday, Amnoyporn Samneing, village headman of Moo 6 in Srisoonthon and his assistant Chaermpon Kerdsap went to Provincial hall and requested that Gov Nisit investigate two men who searched his office looking for illegal items.

Amnoyporn said that at around 3:30pm on Monday two men came to his office in a pick-up truck and told him they were officers from the human trafficking crime suppression unit.

“The two men asked to search my office because they believed it contained illegal items. They had no identification or warrant.

“Even though they found nothing illegal, their search damaged our reputation and more importantly, we don't know who they were.

“Today we want officials to check into these two men to see if they were actually police officers,” said Mr Amnoyporn.

After receiving the complaint Gov Nisit said that he has asked Phuket Provincial police to investigate the matter because Mr Amnoyporn had provided CCTV footage of the incident.

“This is not right, and it is not the way police should carry out a search. Furthermore, the village headman is local leader, he deserves respect even from police officers,” said Gov Nisit.

"The village headman is local leader, he deserves respect even from police officers,” said Gov Nisit,

"Even from police officers" ...

It could maybe be said that everyone deserves respect from police officers but, alas, that is not the current situation.

I am not Thai bashing...it is just a personal observation...how does one tell a real officer from a fake officer...the fake officer will take a 100 baht note for a bogus infraction...a real officer will not settle that cheap and will threaten hauling you to the local office where the fine for the bogus infraction will be at least double...

Both actually qualify as fake in my book...

I have never read of so many fake police officers in any other country. I am wondering

if it is directly proportional to the level of corruption by policemen so there is a great

ability to skim money from the public. whistling.gif

It sounds more like a daily affair how can these be a such a big news? Oh I forgot now the headman can have more publicity and can show off that he can reach the mayor or he is well connected? Would any one would go to any ones place specially if the place in question belongs to some Thai village head man unless some one actually knew something was going on there?!?!? Just wondering ...
