I'm aged 68, ten months ago whilst on a weekend away in Singapore I suffered a heart attack, I had two blocked arteries, a stent was inserted whilst in Singapore and a second after I returned to Bangkok, I'd taken out travel insurance the day before I travelled and the insurers met my claim.

Condition has improved, my medication has been revised downwards as have the trips to the Heart Specialist.

I've taken a chance and travelled internationally since, including Europe. However now that the UK Government have moved the goalposts, and, despite the fact I pay in excess of 30,000 Baht a month UK income tax, I no longer qualify for NHS cover, but that's another issue. I'm travelling to the UK and mainland Europe later this month and am looking for an insurer.

Obviously given my previous medical history I'm high risk and will be charged accordingly, UK insurers carry out a health screening and following a ghost screening I was offered cover, at least I would have been if I'd been resident in the UK.

I approached my previous insurers here in Thailand and after they asked for the details of the previous claim, they agreed cover, when I queried it they responded "oh sorry we made a mistake, we cannot cover you", good job I double checked.

There doesn't seem to be any sort of medical screening here, insurers have either blankly refused cover, and I do understand their reluctance, or not answered emails or returned calls.

I've spent ages looking around the internet, but I was wondering if anybody else has been in the same position and found cover?

Sorry for the long winded post, and thanks in advance.

Have you tried Saga (UK) ?

Yes, UK residents only.

I'm not too concerned as my specialist says I'm healthier than ever, I suspect I will have to travel without cover and dare them to throw me out should the worse happen.
