Sorry, that's just another load of rollocks from the web's leading proponent of pseudo-scientific nonsense "Dr" Mercola.

The real reason is that dog urine is high in nitrogen compounds. It's rather like if you apply too much fertiliser to the grass. The grass just can't handle the nitrogen overdose and dies.

Incidentally, it's not only female dog urine that kills grass, but male urine too. However, males tend to spread their urine around a bit more, what with the leg-cocking, so tend to do less damage overall.
