UK health insurance for a visiting Thai?

Featured Replies

Ok simple question here, Im going to the UK with my Thai Mrs soon for 2 months, obvs. she cant use the NHS so I guess she needs health cover? Where does one buy this, what are the expected costs etc etc? Im just looking for something basic really...

Also if she doesnt have it what does a visit to the doc cost and other things?

Thanks!

You might get a better response in the Insurance Forum.

There are numerous insurers in Thailand, most of them offer cover at will only reimburse medical bills after you've paid first.

Columbus Direct based in the UK would charge about US$100 for a single trip for a couple of months or an annual policy for US$160 which would cover for trips of 60 days at a time columbusdirect

World Nomads is another good company but they cost substantially more.

I think a Thai company would charge in the region of 4,500 Baht for a couple of months.

As I say you will probably get a better response in the insurance Forum.

Hello davejonesbkk,

What your wife needs is Travel insurance to be covered during the period she is staying in Thailand. The premium like theoldgit said, will be approximately around 4,500 THB. You can see the coverage & premium here : http://goo.gl/XXkRU3
